Description

Galène, also known as Galene, serves as a user-friendly videoconference server, categorized as an SFU, that requires a moderate amount of server resources for deployment. Initially created for educational purposes such as lectures, seminars, and tutorials, it has proven to be effective for standard business meetings as well. This platform has been successfully utilized at prominent institutions like Université de Paris and Sorbonne Université, facilitating various academic activities including lectures, practical sessions, and staff gatherings, in addition to hosting two significant conferences, SOCS'2020 and JFLA'2021. Built using Go, Galène employs the Pion implementation of WebRTC on the server side, which has been rigorously tested on Linux systems, specifically amd64 and arm64 architectures, while also demonstrating compatibility with Linux armv7, mips (OpenWRT), and even Windows operating systems. Additionally, it is expected to be adaptable to other platforms, including Mac OS X, enhancing its versatility for users. The default client is designed in Javascript, ensuring functionality across the latest versions of major web browsers on both mobile and desktop devices, although users should refer to the FAQ for specifics regarding compatibility issues with certain browsers.

Description

Void is an operating system designed for general use, built on the monolithic Linux kernel. Its package management system facilitates the swift installation, updating, and removal of software; users can choose from binary packages or compile directly from source using the XBPS source packages collection. Void is compatible with numerous platforms, providing flexibility for various hardware environments. Additionally, software can be built natively or cross-compiled through the XBPS source packages collection, enhancing its versatility. In contrast to countless other distributions, Void is an original creation and not a derivative of any existing system. The package manager and build system of Void have been developed entirely from the ground up, ensuring a unique approach. Furthermore, Void Linux accommodates both musl and GNU libc implementations, addressing compatibility issues with patches and collaborating with upstream developers to enhance the accuracy and adaptability of their software projects. This commitment to innovation and quality makes Void Linux a distinct choice for users seeking an alternative operating system.
