While I'm still typing with a stump, I had to share two interesting train pictures.

The first one is of a neat engine set. These were recently restored, and during a night on the town with friends luvsbway spotted them and got all excited. To which the one friend, obviously not appreciating them, responded, "Yeah, two of them."

Recently luvsbway and I visited these engines in Altoona, PA and we got in the cab and luvsbway got to blow the horn.

Second picture is a hunt-and-peck. See if you can find the funny part of this shot.

  Bennet Levin (sp?) owns them. They were the engines conrail used for their business special trains (woo customers and VIPs).
  
  They are kept at the juniata terminal, and make trips to the annual rail fest in altoona, make several trips a year pulling private cars, and i think theres a rail fest in ohio they go to as well.

    BTW, for fun train-porn, check out the Cavalcade of Stars [nycsubway.org] and classic car service along the old IRT [nycsubway.org] that the NY subway ran for its centennial, 10/27/04.

      There are a few PRR painted cars, but they weren't used for that run. Those engines (and cars) came from the Conrail OCS train. For more info on the cars, this page [trainweb.org] has the best info.

...or does the track in the first photo look a bit uneven? It doesn't look like it'd give a great high-speed ride.

The second one looks like it could almost be in British Rail blue with yellow ends livery :-)
