This changes from state to state and individual to individual so much that the *best* way to figure this out is to go to your state exchange.
If it is working, that is. Mine isn't. Near as I can tell from my state website, I need to do my taxes for the year *before* I can make any intelligent decisions other than "just pay the damn tax, it's cheaper for your family than the cheapest catastrophic plan". No subsidies in my income bracket, likely, unless I made $20,000 less than I think I did.

I might just do the catastrophic with the highest possible dedeuctible.
I only worked in December this year, and only for three weeks (auto companies give off at the end of the year). So, my income is pretty low.

If your income is low enough- go platinum and make the feds pay for it.
There is one other option- thjis, if you have moral qualms [healthcaresharing.org] is supposedly Obamacare friendly while avoiding the moral problems of traditional health insurance companies.
