Captain Splendid's Journal: Fuck you, Taco

Since I've been getting it in the neck in regards to this site and "it can't get much worse" aesthetic, what do you think will be the next move by the management to make this site even more unreadable?

We already have that stupid spinning "more" thing at the bottom of the page ... and nested threads still don't work right when there are a lot of comments, even in D1 (never have) and are REALLY broken in D2.

Remember the IE-only marquee tag? Maybe they'll make that, sort of like those really distracting ticker-tape scrollers at the bottom of the news. A horizontal one for stories, and a vertical one for latest comments.

oh is that what that is? I mostly run slashdot in FF with images off and on my iPad in the Twitter app calls to Safari

Diagonally scrolling background, flash-based music player that changed the tune every time it loaded a new image set), main image that changed every n seconds, along with text, etc., overlaid buttons on the image to go to the next, prev., first, last in the image set, and new ads floating in and out every x seconds, and a side-scrolling "slide show" to jump to a particular set of images.

Only used one timer (and some funky multiplexing), and it worked in every browser with no browser sniffing code - circa
