Journal pudge's Journal: "Twisted Thinking of the Week" Award 2

Wow. Forgetting the incorrect claim that John Koster "has offered no long-term solution to the problems of funding ... county services," the main point of the letter -- that refusing to vote for tax increases is a "capitulation of the authority of the seat he occupies" -- is a special kind of crazy worthy of note ... especially when, at the same time, the letter-writer says that we should be cutting spending.

  • If letter writer thinks tax increases are inevitable, then it's sensical thinking on the grounds that by promising to not participate in the process, that representative's district could unfairly receive the brunt of them. So in this sense a vote for this person could mean (if he stuck with his promise) that his district would be going without the benefit of representation on this issue (i.e. someone looking out for their best interestes, or rather their least worst, in this case).

Then he's an idiot. :-) Our county didn't raise taxes for several years, and our Congress hasn't raised taxes on most Americans for a decade.
