Journal pudge's Journal: Obama Can't Take It 16

Obama made fun of Palin's job as mayor a few days ago, cracking that he has more people on his campaign staff than she had in her town as mayor. And now he is feigning offense about her cracks about him being a community organizer (which, contrary to the lies of the left, were not attacks on community organizers, any more than Obama was attacking majors of small towns).

Then he says it's not a big deal, after spending several minutes complaining about. Riiiight.

If Obama can't handle this, how could he handle it when a foreign dictator comes into his backyard and calls him a devil?

And then he complained, as Biden did, that the Republicans presented "not one idea" in their two nights of convention, again adding it's not a big deal, they can do what they want with their convention time.

I think along with being the most inexperienced Presidential candidate in 68 years, in terms of experience in state executive, federal executive, or federal legislative office, he may also be the most passive-aggressive.

Obama Can't Take It

  • I never understood what Obama was thinking when he claimed his campaign was bigger than her town. Hello, she _was_ a mayor, but she _is_ now a governor. If he doesn't know that she is currently the governor of one of the 57 states, perhaps he is as inadequate with internal politics as international.

But those people cling to God and Guns, so they don't count.

Who would have thought that the whiny little bitch in the campaign wouldn't be the woman?

In fact - maybe we should take a page from BASEketball and call Obama 'Squeak'. Cause he's a little bitch.

Nah, that'd be stooping to the Dem's level, and watching Palin make them knee-jerk themselves into orbit is fun enough.

Yeah, it always seemed silly. But I think the strategy is basically to pick something where they can attack and ignore everything else and hope that everyone else does, too. It doesn't help that his echo chamber in the mainstream media will go along with whatever he says.

So the question is: How will he ever know when he's wrong? He'll probably have to wait until November, just like Kerry.

If you're POTUS, I'm betting that the little sounds of the various dictators is so much cricket chirping.
Of course, the fear of failure may be talking, which is possibly a concern for BHO.
I'm curious what major professional disasters BHO has ever dealt with. A failed paper? A failed class? I rather hope he's lost more than the occasional basketball game.
Something of the magnitude of the introspection I would assume a woman goes through when told that their child will be born with Down's Syndrome, for example.
  • Virtually from the beginning, it's been striking just how thin-skinned he is. Deep down, some part of me wants to see things turn ugly - though it would most certainly spell disaster for McCain/Palin as far as getting elected, it would be incredibly entertaining to watch. Love him or hate him, we know McCain can take abuse. And over a very compressed timeframe, it seems pretty clear Palin is tough enough to deal with some pretty ugly attacks thrown her way.

Heh, yeah, I don't want to see it get ugly. And frankly, I think this may be an act from Obama. He DID campaign in Chicago, so you'd think he would have a thick skin. But we just don't know. He certainly acted thin-skinned with Hillary.

But this is just an amazing performance from him today: attacking Palin for using the same rhetoric he himself had used a day prior; acting like it was a big deal; passive-aggressively saying it was NOT a big deal.

The only people who will think he performed well are those

Gotta disagree with you there. His first office, he ran unopposed after he managed to get enough signatures for his mentor Alice Palmer (and three others) disqualified. He was supported by Daley who wanted Palmer out because she was a potential threat to run against him for mayor. In Chicago, when you have the Daley machine backing you, life ain't so tough.

His US Senate run, the incumbent retired, the previous Senator, Carol Moseley Braun decided not to run, and his opponent, Jack Ryan withdrew after his s

I thought it was two others. BTW, though, I have NO problem with that. He followed the law, it was his OPPONENTS who broke the law. He was not doing "Chicago politics," THEY were, according to everything I have seen. If there's more to the story, I've not seen it.

          • I can't remember now, maybe it was 3 total. In general terms, I don't disagree about following the law and didn't really mean to be overly harsh to him on that issue. Certainly the devil is in the details - just what specifically the criteria for disqualifying signatures can make big difference. But I won't claim to know and definitely give him the benefit of the doubt. The only thing I meant to be somewhat a slight was that it just didn't seem like a good way to treat some who took you under their wing - b

Oh sure, I was just commenting.

I don't know the exact details, but every account I've seen agrees that the signatures were illegal [cnn.com]. Some of them were cursive instead of printed, some were gathered by people not registered to collect signatures, etc. I have no problem with any of that: follow the rules.

I think Bush properly won Florida because of the rules, and I think Gregoire properly won Washington in 2004 because of the rules (though if we had hard evidence there was actual fraud, I'd change my mind).

He was never really tested except for the one race he lost, until the primary battle against Clinton.

Still the primary battle was a heck of a test. I mean Clinton put together a campaign that would have won the primaries against anyone else.

                  Well, most anyone else. Agreed.

And frankly, he won it in part by BEING thin-skinned (oh woe is me, look how mean my opponent is). But that is a strategy much easier to use in the Dem primaries than in the general election.

  • ... out of the Hillary for Prez message boards... the PUMA's hate The One's guts, and seem excited over Palin. Obama is doing damage control by sending Hillary on an anti-Palin tour. One of the PUMA's said "face it, Obama, Sarahcuda kicked you in the junk, and know you're sending a girl to fight your battles for you".

Another great blog comment, a play on the "new god" thing... someone described Obama as Senator Maud' Dib , (D) Arrakis.

cracking that he has more people on his campaign staff than she had in her town as mayor.

Um, he does - about fifty times as much staff and he goes through two or three of Wasilla's yearly budgets in a single month. He has also done this (while getting more donations and votes than anyone in history) with none of the drama or fiscal problems that the Hillary or McCain campaigns faced, and beat the Clinton machine with zero institutional support. That's some damned good executive experience, which became a

      Yes.

cracking that he has more people on his campaign staff than she had in her town as mayor.

      Um, he does

That is completely beside my point. He was essentially "dissing" her civil service in a small town. And then he got huffy when she "dissed" his "community organizing."

The rest of what you say about his campaign is completely irrelevant to anything I said, so skipping ahead ...

If Obama can't handle this, how could he handle it when a foreign dictator comes into his backyard and calls him a devil?

Yes, which explains why Obama is sitting down to talk to Bill O'Reilly, while Palin has yet to do a single interview

Oh jeez, are you that blindly partisan? She has only been the VP selection for a week and has been kinda busy. It took Obama nine months to sit down with BOR; can you at least give her nine DAYS or so?

I think along with being the most inexperienced Presidential candidate in 68 years

...your timeline of course leaves out another state senator from Illinois who went on to become president after a short stint in Congress. Convenient, that.
