Journal pudge's Journal: No, It Wasn't Me, But Almost 9

I saw this site over the weekend to vote for your favorite design for the Washington state quarter.

The voting was shut down because "robots" were voting multiple times.

No, it wasn't me.

But I did think about it, because I knew other people were doing it, voting for the third design, and I think that's the worst one (I don't like the tribal theme really, plus, as someone else noted, it excludes the noncoastal tribes, and simply doesn't well-represent the whole state), so I was going to vote for the second. I like the first OK too.

Glad they figured out this was silly and pulled it. Unfortunately, the governor (note: I call her the governor!) still insists she will consider the web-based vote in the decision, which is just stupid because it is completely unscientific, even if you do find a reasonable way to exclude robots.

  • Its different, but I honestly think it would be better suited for Alaska. The other two definately fit into the 'theme' of the other state quarters I've seen thus far. We didn't even get a choice here in Maryland. By the time the first quarters hit the 'streets' ours were already being minted. What did our representatives choose? The freaking boring State House. Whoopdedo.

As an unrelated side note, I had some lively discussion in one of my latest JE's you may be interested in wading into. Since I don
  • They need a simple authentication test [thepcspy.com] that will not offend anyone.
  • As a Washington state resident myself, I would have to vote for the first. It has fish, which includes the Columbia river folk and the ocean side, it has the Cascades which includes the middle part of the state, and it has a picture of the entire state to cover everyone else. That way it encompasses the entire state without hurting anyone's feelings. Can't let anyone feel excluded can we.
    • I don't mind excluding people, but to hone in on one aspect of Washington people and culture that most people don't really have any identity with, or care for, seems pretty silly to me.

But what do I know? I'm only a three-year citizen of the state.
  • Voting is enabled... I voted for the first one. (I'm not even a WA resident, but.... Whatever.)
