Submission + - Can the Storm Botnet be taken down?

phantomcircuit writes: "It is being reported that the Storm Worm botnet is being broken up, possibly for sale as smaller independent botnets. It would seem that a botnet with Command and Control on a P2P network could be completely shutdown, but so far nobody has succeeded.

Can the Storm Worm botnet be taken down? or will it be sold to the highest bidders before anything can be done about it?"

Submission + - Microsoft Admits IE Could be Patched Faster

phantomcircuit writes: ""Microsoft is considering the early release of a fix for a bug in Internet Explorer that malicious hackers are actively exploiting online. The software giant usually only releases patches once a month but said it might put the fix out sooner if the problem grew severe enough."

So they could release this sooner and possibly prevent identity theft or other crimes, but they don't want to look any worse than they already do so they're not releasing it?!
