Jerry Smith writes "http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,13509-2577 471,00.html reports that Americans are no longer the longest people in the world. Junk food and worse access to healthcare are the most probable causes. From TFA: "Today, the two authors say, young white American men are 4.7cm ( just over 1¾in) shorter than Dutch men, and white American women are 5.7cm (just under 2¼in) shorter than their Dutch counterparts." An anonymous reader writes "The High-Def format wars finally have yardstick against which to measure who's winning with the first public release of VideoScan sales figures for both HD DVD and Blu-ray. An anonymous reader writes "I work at a large hosting company in Texas and recently decided to go work for a smaller competitor. I had a great relationship with my employer and wanted to leave on good terms. I felt the new company had just gotten too large and I didn't like working there anymore, I gave them two weeks notice in writing. They were really upset when I insisted on leaving and one week into my last two weeks the V.P. of Sales told me the company was suing me for leaving and suing my new employer for hiring me. They then escorted me out of the building. I was shocked. Should I hire an attorney? Has anybody ever heard of this happening? Do they have any legal basis for suing me? I never signed any non-compete or employment agreement."
Frumious Wombat (845680) writes "It has been known that hallucinogens react with the 5HT2a serotonin receptor, but so do other drugs which don't cause hallucinations. Now, researchers have discovered that the 5HT2a receptor is capable of multiple signaling pathways, even when confronted with very similar drugs, similar to a multi-polar switch. Both drugs control phospholipase C pathways, but only hallucinogens also activate the Pertussis toxin-sensitive heterotrimeric Gi/o proteins and Src."
