Journal Em Emalb's Journal: 7.5 things I know to be true.... 8

1) I don't care about the Grammys, Oscars, MTV Music awards, or whatever the hell else Hollywood and the Music Industry fellate each other over.

2) Old timey musicians who faded away faded away for a reason. Their comebacks are almost never worth a damn.

3) I like cheese.

4) Diet Dr Pepper is better in the can than the bottle or out of the fountain.

5) I don't really care what people think.

6) except when I do care what they think. If you care, then they have a slight power over you. Eff that.

7) He-man would totally get Sylvester Stall-PWNED by GI Joe.

8) I am an animal-per

  • I heard some talking radio heads express their disapointment that none of the artists at the Grammys made a strong political statement. They felt that the artists wasted an opportunity to bring an important message to the people.

    WTF?
    • And likely if people tried making big political statements, they would have said "it's not about the politics, it's about the music, I can't believe they did that."

    • "There seems to have been an actual decline in rational thinking. The United States had become a place where entertainers and professional athletes were mistaken for people of importance. They were idoloized and treated as leaders; their opinions were sought on everything and they took themselves just as seriously -- after all, if an athlete is paid a million or more a year, he knows he is important . . . so his opinions of foreign affairs and domestic policies must be important" -- Maureen Johnson Smith Lo
  • so who is the bigger joke on? the people who sit at home and watch the 'awards' or the winners who think it means something of substance?

    • See, that's the thing. Only Diet Dr Pepper in the can tastes better. Diet Coke from a fountain is so much better than canned.

It's a conundrum, to be sure.

Regarding #6, what about your wife then?

Simply caring about what some people think isn't necessarily giving them power IMO. Using someone's opinion of you or your decisions to prop up or destroy your self-worth seems more like granting power to them. Simply caring that you haven't hurt someone or questioning yourself in the face of someone questioning you isn't giving them power.

I think it's what you do with the thoughts you have, not simply having them.

Just thought it would be interesting to discuss... :
    • family and loved ones are different. Mainly because you're allowing them much more than simply caring what they think.

      (Your parents, for example)

You also took the definition of what I was saying in a different direction than what I intended.

Such is the way of the Rob...finding deep meaningful thoughts in a pile of shyte.

How many NASA managers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? "That's a known problem... don't worry about it."
