Journal Em Emalb's Journal: Two things and a poll 25

Anyone hear from JtS lately? Or has he completely flipped into Corporate Troll mode?

Second, is it just me or are things really sucking out here in journal land?

Doesn't seem anyone has anything good to say.

Is this because:

A) we all suck, just me more than the rest?

B) life is nutz (in ya mouf) crazy right now?

C) football hasn't really started yet?

D) the warm summer is dragging on and the humidity is up too high?

E) Em has been making sucky polls lately?

F) GMHowell is trying to get out of the tech field?

G) LG hasn't had a good journal title in a while?

H) Your witty banter does not phase me. Now please excuse me while I stick my head in this dirty toilet and flush.

Today sucked. Today sucked like well, Banky, apparently. Nice title dude. Bout snarfed some DP on my keyboard.

  • non-represented option, you insensetive clod.

Seriously though, everything in life has it's lulls. Who cares? It'll turn up soon. As far as JtS, I've been playing catchup on /. from my second trip in two weeks, and didn't really notice that he'd been out of the posting circles lately. Sometimes we all have dry spells. He'll turn up sooner or later.
  • About JtS, that is. Where *is* he? With all the drinking and [bad] driving he does, and as down as he's sounded recently, I worry. :-(

And yes, Banky's title is *awesome*. I'm gonna *definitely* file that one away in the mental Rolodex ('cause I haven't digitized it yet, ya see).

Re: JEs sucking. A, B, and D, methinks. We all suck the nutz in ya mouf and the heat is making 'em butt-fucking animal ass skanky, man.

      • I think a Windows .dll file ate Xerithane.
      • and he's gathering up some good stuff
I wish! I worked 2 hours over today, but I did bump into the girl from the hot tub JE at the grocer's. She ran up and hugged me and mentioned she had been meaning to come by. I asked her if she was going to cook dinner tonight (since she had mushrooms) and she said no, she was going to eat with her mother, who was cooking. She said she couldn't cook with anything more complicated than an easy bake oven. So, I might have, maybe, sort of, invited her over for dinner
    • I'm with bethanie. With suck ass JE's it's HARD to write Weekly Recap(tm). Okay, no it isn't. I could do this stuff in my sleep. ;) But it's the *good* JEs that make Weekly Recap(tm) an interesting read, IMHO. I mean, my witty sleazoid journalism is kinda cool and all, but let's face it, the real stars of Weekly Recap(tm) are the JE posters. That was kinda the idea from the beginning.

And Weekly Recap(tm) has always been butt-fucking animal ass skanky. That's the point. ;)
  • Or to assist an NT admin, as in a backup/restore capability.

At least, it has lately. Especially where I work. Two weeks of virus, and now our main fileserver took a dive. I'm doing more restores in a day than I usually do in a month.

    • Yes it does... that's why I'm answering B.

But TL, I thought you said you had all your servers patched and your PCs up to date and the viruses weren't bothering you. Well, you are correct. None of my machines have been infected, HOWEVER, some dumb-arsed admin at another facility DIDN'T have his stuff patched, and let a VENDOR plug his INFECTED WinXP laptop into the LAN, and boom, it's running loose inside the firewall. So, the guys up at corporate network services decide it's causing too much traffic and

  • because most journal entries have sucked as of late.
  • but his last comment was number 2600, so maybe he's just enjoying that for a while. :-)
  • What??? Football is just about finished! This weekend is the last round of the home and away season and finals start the following week. Collingwood is currently second on the ladder, but there are 6 other teams within one game of them, so anyone can finish anywhere at this stage. It has been the closest finish in the history of the AFL/VFL.

How can you say football hasn't really started!
  • I kid, I kid. I just got back from a really horrible night on stage (really). Trust me here, give me till Friday to get my crap back in order again and I'll have more 'insider' stuff to read with semi-sordid tales and the inner workings of my mind while prepping for show and more. We were due for a journal drought anyway.
  • The answer is, of course, E.

but the real answer is who cares? How much are you paying for journals? There ya go.

I've been too busy playing EV:Nova the past few days.

    • How much are you paying for journals?

Why do I have to pay for something to enjoy it?

Besides, I haven't heard a decent rant out of you since BOFA. I know that ain't the end of it.

      Fess up man.
  • We are in the worst time of the year ... the time from the last game of the Stanley Cup Finals and the first game of the NFL season (though college footbal started already, but my team doesn't kick-off till Saturday). There are no sports worth watching in the summer ('cept MAYBE women's volleyball, but noone watches that for the actual sport. Women's tennis isn't too bad, if you turn the sound up and read a Playboy.) Baseball is boring. Golf makes me want to shoot myself. Pro-bowling? Play, not watch.
  • just as long as we don't all give up and go. i figure it's just like the lull you get in face to face communication. that and the fact that this time of year is a little whacky. students (and teachers) go back to school while the rest of us ponder where summer went.

  • K: Taking vacation to Europe for two weeks [30th-15th] and nailing down all the last minute details :P. I'll pay more attention and post more often when I get back :)
  • B, things have been crazy the last couple weeks.

As for JtS I wouldn't worry too much. Various European countries have a habit of clearing out for weeks at a go during July and August. This is why if you are over there for vacation during the Summer sometimes you'll see at the border signs like "Sorry, [X country] is closed for vacation. We re-open in 3 weeks."
