Journal Em Emalb's Journal: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk? 15
Sometimes, when I play pick the random topic game, I will go to the beginning topic, since I seem to hit the mid-range topics more often. Anyhow.
I just posted my 511th! comment in my short tenure here.
My question for the day
How many posts do you have?
What topics do you primarily post in?
Me, I stick mainly to journals and OS stuff, with the occasional ask slashdot and YROs. I recently received my new thought-shielder 2763a Tin foil hat, complete with retina faker and thumb-print generator.
yeah, I didn't have anything better to do, and obviously, you don't either.

Hell, if I were posting at my current rate when I first started, I have no doubt that I might have been tapped to be one of the first moderators. But I was just a lurker at that time.

I have been falling behind lately, as it is I now stand at a mere 2056 posts.
I have actually been posting more journal entries lately then actual posts!!
Once I got my +1 bonus I went hog wild, yaah! Heh. Took me about two years to get it, but once it is gained it is easy to maintain.
When I do post to stories I am normally one of the earlier posters, since I refresh

Ironically, I'm far more often one of the last posters than one of the first. Lately, I've given up trying to have a good early post. Mods are usually decent if you actually say something late that hasn't been said yet.
Also, reading 'Ask Slashdot', 'YRO', and other categories that don't always wind up on the front page by default gets you into discussions with decent S:N ratios, and a good chance for an upmod.

I usually post in journals. Next would be science, java (and programming) and games. Then askSlash, then I hit the OS boards, simply to try and yell my "MS isn't entirely bad, and Linux isn't the answer for everything", and I've been poking around on YRO, but its gotten me more freaks than everything else (lotsa extremists there), so I should prolly stop that

Mostly if I can think of something funny related to the topic, I post it. But mostly, I prefer OT ramblings. Attached to the weekly poll there was a great OT rant on regional food- they guy with all the SF references in his posts was all over that.

I usually like to read about any changes in web browsers, sometimes the Linux kernel, XFree86, evolution, sometimes case mods, goofy projects [monorail in backyard]. I don't read too many posts, because often times people get all upset so easily. I usually try to make an effort to read most journal entries, when I have the time, because I think of it as someone speaking to me, and the curteous thing to do would be to listen. I tend to avoid YRO, security issues, and stuff that I don't understand. I believe that they are important but it's not like I'm going to be able to do something about it anytime soon, and get some good value out of it. I also don't read about hardware, 802.11 [or what that number is], wifi, tivo, and Macs. I have absolutely no access to any of these things, and it would be a waste of my time.
I usually don't post at all, except when it comes to moral issues. In that type of a situation, I'll: ride in on my tall white horse; then look down my long nose [correct expression?]; shout, "You're wrong!! You're all SO *BLOODY* WRO-O-O-ONG!!!"; gallop away for a few metres; come back and say, "Oh, sorry about that. I didn't mean to splash foam all over you."; wipe away any remaining foam; and then gallop off into the sunset.
