It is indeed astonishing how consumer driven and wasteful we all are. Owning things doesn't make me happy, some things I own do help me do things that are fun. But I think life is more about personal experiences, learning and developing yourself and the lives of those around you. I am having a very difficult time teaching this to my three children, they are at the age where they don't listen to me so much anymore and they listen to their peers - who all have the same opinions that they have. We would all do well to slow down a little and notice more closely the people in our lives and take time to appreciate the things we do have.
Thank you for the info. I have been watching videos and it looks good. When you say "classes" are they literally only what skills you start out with and you can learn them all? Or are you still somewhat limited?
+1 for 3DO reference.
Is The Secret World class based (like WoW) or skill based (like Ryzom, EVE and Entropia Universe). Can one avatar aquire all of the skills in the game if desired?
HIV? Or full blown AIDS?
I that for a while it was popular for some cards to offer temporary account numbers for online shopping that would be good for one purchase. I think Citibank did that. I never used that feature though.
I have a 3 year old iPhone 4 and feel like I have a new phone again. It even feels fast too. I will get an iPhone 5s once LifeProof makes a case for it.
I love how the three-wolf shirt is a thing. I want to get one and wear it on casual Friday.
I think we could just use Bluetooth to couple the phone with the laptop and send digitized acoustics that way. It seems like Bluetooth is ubiquitous on both phones and laptops. A simple pairing and no additional rubber hardware is needed.
I really admire him for spending time doing adventurous activities with his time. He doesn't seem wrapped up in just being wealthy. He wants to use that money to make spaceships and dig up sunken treasures. I pretty much live a Great-Value-Brand-Upper-Lower-Class lifestyle and rely on Super Saver Shipping for most purchases, but Bezos really sets the bar high for what a person could become. And he isn't all about the show.
This. I agree with this. Touch screens have their place (touch screen cell phones are great). But the idea doesn't really scale well to a laptop or desktop computer. I can wipe my phone off on my pant leg if I get bacon grease or boogers on it...something that is much more difficult with a laptop, or even a tablet sized device.
I have been holding out replacing my desktop and laptop for this as well. Did they put the Windows 7 Style Start Orb back? Can it boot directly to the old-school screen and bypass the tiles?
I personally can't wait for them to fix this in Windows 8.1. I want to buy a new desktop and laptop. But I am holding off since I can't get Windows 7 on anything available over the counter at Best Buy, Costco, Sam's Club (those are about it for people in Reno, Nevada. I need to see if Fry's over in Roseville, California offers anything with Windows 7.
It's the same story as yesterday; someone resold their copy.
