I suppose you are packing your things and are on the way to join the international brigades to fight against this aggression?

The only positive thing that comes to mind when one hears others sending yet somebody else to fight and possibly die is this moment - when Bush the older was blabbering about the 'aggression that would not stand' while Big Lebovski was paying for his milk....

This may but does not have to point out to unholy truth that Ukraine is a divided country with not so sall minority wanting closer ties with Russia or even full integration. That is of course something we do not hear in our media - it is not the truth we want to hear. The same as in Kosovo - we did not want and still refuse to accept that ethnic cleansing against Serbs has been done by the guys we supported and we did not even try to protect them (they were after all our enemies so all is well, is it not?).

Other than that we shall support our war effort in the name of democracy, human rights and common sense.... oh wait.

It is not quite correct. The option you refer to as 'remain part of Ukraine' was not a status quo but return to 1992 status of autonomic republic of Crimea. Having said that this would mean staying part of Ukraine still which is conveniently 'forgot' bu GP and most of other heroes. I am pretty sure Russia made a mistake by sending soldiers and making referendum (Putirendum?) in such hasty way but then again - US and allies were meddling in Ukraine for quite some time and situation was more than chaotic with some nationalists doing stuff in Kiev which was not quite like principles that US and the rest of the West officially believe.

Pity if people have to die for Crimea on whatever site. It seems we did not have a major conflict for some time and some are missing ol' good times.....

What makes me worried though is general attitude: 'how dare Russians do that' while forgetting about acts of violence' by NATO and US alone which were sometimes sanctioned by US Security Council based on lies (Or Mr. Powell was misinformed) as well as this little incident in Kosovo. It looks like some sort of conflict cold or hot is inevitable.

Just wondering how does that or this happiness improves anything in life of a common nerd who has to struggle with his/her own communication ineptitude and social awkwardness? Or how does that apply to poor neurologically typical sods that work in IT and have to struggle with the nerds around them as well as with the awkwardness of working with code? In other words: how long will they stay happy (if they ever were)? Just wondering. A nice set of questions for a start of a drinking session. I have counted 26 linked explanations what ISP means in this wiki article. I admit: big part of the list would be eliminated by context but not knowing what ISP means may be a sign of too many abbreviations being used and too few 3 letter combinations possible. It may be a sign of something else too....

Lately I have developed a habit of asking people what they mean by particular 'acronym' after I noticed that I often do not know what the conversation is really about and an old strategy of waiting for explanation that surely comes later is very often futile. I often encounter people that know as little as I do about what the particular 'acronym' actually means. After I started doing this at work, I noticed that there are quite some 'acronyms' that have no meaning whatsoever. To make an example not violating NDA - I take NDA which then is not Non Disclosure Agreement and not even Net Daemons Associates but Automatic Installation Procedure. I think there are people doing it on purpose... Damned terrorists!!!

The army of clerks is a good point. Not having to use something does not mean that a person knows nothing about it. This and the fact that for a judge of a supreme court there is an advantage of not leaving trail of mails proving or not what he thinks of things. In this day of massive and all encompassing NSA surveillance this can be and in case of persons of such power actually is an advantage if one uses certain services in a restrictive way.

* - if you are wondering what that heck that is, I can help, as I tried that once myself (out of curiosity). The two metal things are old type razor blades connected directly with the power supply and separated with matches or some other isolator. You put it into water and it boils in few seconds. The dangers are: you can electrocute yourself or brake the fuse but if it worked then you had an advantage of not very well tasting tee or coffee.
