That some would do so does not mean that all, or even a majority, would do so.

For a while, yes- they have lost all trust and have to earn it back. But when it is again non intrusive and well behaved, no one will care. No one cared for a decade that web pages had ads in them- because they were simple banners or footers or link rings.
