Submission + - Harvard Makes College More Affordable (harvard.edu)

virtualXTC writes: "With many Slashdotters ranting about how unaffordable higher education, I thought readers may be interested to hear that Harvard University has announced a "sweeping middle-income initiative" to lower the tuition burden. The new initiative frees any family with an income under $60k from contributing toward tuition, asks for a sliding 0% to >10% contribution from families in the $60K to $120K range, and flattens for family's earning $120K to $180K to not more than 10%.
Best of all, Harvard will no longer expect students to take out any loans when calculating their financial aid packages. Let's hope other schools soon follow."
