Exodus 14 VS 14 says that the lord will fight my case and I shall hold my
peace. I don't need any telephone communication in this
regard because of my health because of the presence of my husband's relatives
around me always. I don't want them to know about this development.
With God all things are possible. As soon as I receiveyour reply I shall give
you the contact of the Finance/Security Company in Amsterderm Holland. I will
also issue you a letter of authority that will prove you as the original-
beneficiary of this fund. I want you and the church to always pray for me
because the lord is my shephard. My
happiness is that I lived a life of a worthy Christian. Whoever that wants to
serve the Lord must serve him in spirit and truth. Please always be prayerful

I just had one of these... not bad at all. Gave me the late-afternoon kick I needed and it wasn't too sweet. I prefer it over their little frappacino grenades.

I work at a large government site as an outside contractor. When the federal administration decides to elevate the nationwide threat level to orange, I cringe, and then shake my head.

I cringe for purely selfish reasons. When we reach orange, it becomes much more difficult to go to work. Suddenly, employees are subjected to jumping the same hurdles visitors to this site are: your car is inspected (twice if you want to park in a garage) upon entering the site for explosive residue, you need to provide two forms of ID, and you need to pass through a metal detector to enter your specific building (this site is akin to a college campus with multiple smaller buildings in one area). What bothers me is that the measures adopted are overkill and can be easily circumvented by "evildoers" if they are dedicated to a successful attack.

I shake my head because the whole color-coded alert scheme is basically a no-win game for the government. If we go to an elevated level and an attack occurs, then the system is useless. If we stay at a lower level and an attack occurs, then the system is useless. If we elevate the level and nothing happens (or a plot is foiled but it's kept quiet), the system is useless. The only positive outcome is if a plot is discovered while under an elevated alert, but it can be argued that the discovery would have been made anyway.

So, we have an elevated alert status that forces the expenditure of an incredible amount of resources that the state and local governments don't have (the feds promise help but if they provide it, it's coming from an overdrawn account anyway), and some localities don't even respond to it at all (Salt Lake City is one example). The cherry on this sundae is that I would imagine any terrorist worth his salt will simply cool his heels until we're back under the soothing "yellow" alert (do you think we'll ever see green? I'm assuming I'll never see blue in my lifetime). And now, on top of it all, the man on the street is starting to mutter that he's ignoring the color-coding altogether because it changes and nothing happens, or doesn't impact his life. That's the side-effect of this whole scheme that seems harmful to me.

I posted this comment nearly a week ago. It's not amazing, but it was modded up to 5. There it sat for a while.

Last night, I get an e-mail saying that someone modded it "Overrated." I don't have an issue with that, but I have mod points at the moment and looked right after I received the e-mail and found the whole thread was closed to moderation. I'm not sure what the time limit is before threads can't be modded any longer, but I'm left to guess this was done by an editor (aside from the e-mail, I know that as recently as Saturday that it was still at 5).

Am I missing something, or is that a valid guess? Are questions for interviewees modded down by editors if they don't like them (and don't want to see them included in the interview)?

That's right, Mother Nature is fed up with us all and has made some changes to her day planner, bumping the coming ice age to right now. Well, that's what it seems like. Here in DeeCee, lows are in the single-digits and wind chills are less than -20 F. That's a bit too much to deal with after the past few relatively tropical winters... I think we had maybe three inches of snow all of last winter. So far for this one we've had over a foot.

Do you play golf? I've noticed there are a few NFL fans here, which to me seems ultra-rare amongst the /. readers I've run into where I work. I would think there would be even fewer golf players.

I started playing two years ago, and my scores on standard public par-72 tracks around here averaged out around 97 for this past summer. Not too bad when my first round in June of 2000 netted me a 136. :)
