Journal doc_traig's Journal: Shooting Golfs 3
Do you play golf? I've noticed there are a few NFL fans here, which to me seems ultra-rare amongst the
I started playing two years ago, and my scores on standard public par-72 tracks around here averaged out around 97 for this past summer. Not too bad when my first round in June of 2000 netted me a 136.
Yeah, I play, but I ain't your typical geek (Score:1)
I had baseball and basketball scouts looking at me in high school. I was in the Marine Corps.
I also was a caddy for 2 years during summers my sophmore and junior year in high school. I used to be about a 10 handicap. Now I am probably a 16 or so. I don't get out to play as much. But, when I do, I do ok. If you are in the Atlanta area sometime in the future, check out golfatlanta.com. There's roughly oh, I don't know, 100 or so courses you can play. Obviously golf is big time out here. Best I ever shot was a 79--par was 72.
Curious: Do you find your self shooting pretty well, maybe bogey golf or so and then you make a snow man (8) on a par 3 and your round goes to hell? I hate that. I always have one really bad hole. Otherwise I'd be in the low to mid 80s.

Sure. It's such a mental game and so many players go about it the wrong way. I am happy to shoot 100+ if it means I was consistent, and left with something to chew on for the next round. It's when I shoot 44 front, 52 back that I get upset.
I'm working on resetting mentally after each shot.

I too, am working on the mental game. It's an ever challenging sport.
