The problem in LA is the culture. People believe they are to be seen in their automobiles and they buy or lease expensive cars and drive them ridiculously short distances for that sole reason (if there is another reason, please do share but nothing really makes sense).

I worked for a company based out of LA for 2.5 years and we were there often. One guy lived a 10 minute walk from the office but chose to drive each and every day. He didn't buy an M3 to have it sit in his garage, after all. Nope, it sat in the company's garage instead.

Waving and aiming what looks like a real gun around in a park, then reaching for your waist when police come to the scene is not going to getting shot... just ask Tamir Rice.

Now, when the cop sticks his hands inside of the vehicle and gets it caught in the steering wheel, and fearing that the driver is going to drive away shoots the driver... that's a great way to get yourself charged with murder... just ask Richard Combs.

Always? I've never had that experience, they have always waited for me to collect and hand over the requested items... granted I've not been pulled over that many times.

If true, I'd suggest finding a lawyer filing a report (and perhaps a lawsuit) about such incidences as their unwarranted entry into your vehicle would constitute trespass, taking your wallet from you would be theft, and any examination of the inside contents that are not in clear view without your permission would be an unlawful search (assuming there are no other circumstances that warranted such actions).

hopefully this takes on and forces advertisers and publishers to switch to cpa instead of the meaningless cpm/cpc models of the past. Then hopefully we'll all see fewer, more relevant, more expensive ads for stuff we actually want to buy.

I work in marketing analytics and, specifically, in measuring the effectiveness of online marketing campaigns at a customer level. Straight up click tracking is dead and this will do nothing which is purports as organizations begin moving away from siloed measurement of IMP -> CLK within single channels at an aggregate level and instead go down to the very granular cross-channel customer-level attribution.

If you really want to avoid detection and behavior tracking, I highly suggest you entirely disable cookies entirely (yes, I realize this is not worth it at all), otherwise you will not have accomplished what you had hoped.

i use adblock (not plus) on chrome, but i also use dnsmasq/dhcp and some scheduled scripts on my home router running tomato usb to block almost all ads on all devices.

But it seems like a kind of superficial gimmick. And most SF doesn't deliver any culture at all - art, music, religion, politics, etc - unless it directly relates to the plot.
