Journal Journal: Courage 5

Since I'm on break, and I've got a lot of schoolwork to do, I figured I would take my free moment while I dry off from the shower and eat lunch to make another post. This is something I have been meaning to put up for a long time, and just never actually sat down to do it. Keep in mind this is going to be something that will piss a lot of people off, but I want to instigate thinking on this issue which I feel has been neglected.

Journal Journal: New View on Console Wars 2

On puzzle pirates yesterday, somebody started up the console wars again. They were all XboX and I was all Gamecube. I started thinking, and I found a new reasoning behind the console wars. Console wars are strictly a financial issue. Why is this? Well, if you had infinite moneys, like Bill Gates, you would probably buy every console and every video game and every peripheral. And if you are poor you wont buy any games whatsoever.

Ah, the internet. Ah google. Whe combined you are god. What is god? An imaginary omniscient omnipresent omnipotent omnibeing. Well, google and the inernet are just that.

Omniscient = all knowing. All information known to human society can be found on the internet. Google helps you find it.

Omnipresent = everywhere. With a sattelite phone and a pda or laptop I can access the internet from all over earth and even earth's orbit.

Journal Journal: Fancrap 1

This one is going to be rather short, but it deal with a subject I deal with on an almost daily basis. I myself have coined a new term, "fancrap". Fancrap refers to all that stuff that fanboys/girls do. Fanfiction, Fanart, larps/roleplaying, doujinshi, crazy cosplay, etc. etc. It's mostly the anime type community but it extends beyond that. Here is my current working definition of fancrap.

Journal Journal: More on Random Encounters 1

There was a recent article on slashdot games about how random encounters in RPGs aren't so bad. I made a reply to this post, but I didn't get to say nearly everything that was on my mind. Hence, this journal entry!

Journal Journal: Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga 2

Ok, so I went out yesterday to try to buy $85 worth of video games with $60. I suceeded in not getting Mario Party 5, but getting only Mario + Luigi Superstar Saga. I found it at best buy for a hot price of $25. Whoah, is this game the ultimate awesome.

Ok, if you are a big mario fan, you will love this game. If you aren't a mario fan, what's wrong with you? I hope this game will turn you into one.

Journal Journal: Death of Brick and Mortar

So yesterday I go out to buy some boots. It's cold and snowy here in Roochester, NY. Really cold and snowy. So I wanted to buy a pair of boots that did the following 4 things.

1) look good
2) fit my feet
3) insulate feet against gold
4) keep feet dry

No, puzzle pirates and abiword don't have anything to do with each other. This journal entry is about both of them, seperately.

Journal Journal: Super Software 2 2

If for some reason there is something wrong with you and you read my journal whenever I update it, you may remember an older journal entry of mine from April. In it I listed all the software one needs. Of course, it's been awhile, and the world of software has changed. Many of the things on the list will be the same, but it's interesting to see what's changed.

Journal Journal: Stuffs!!

Ok, so a lot of stuff is going on. First off, the US Grand Prix is today. This means you don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to catch the Formula 1 race live. So all you people who have never seen an F1 race, or you just aren't into it, today at 1:30 on the Speed Channel. Seriously, it's like no other car racing you've ever seen. Give it a shot, and make sure you don't miss the launch start at the beginning, it's very exciting.

Journal Journal: Record Exec Came and Left RIT! 2

Ok, so Michael Smellie, the COO of BMG was at RIT today. We went to see him. He gave a lecture/presentation with some well done powerpoint visual aids, and then took a few short and crappy questions and left. Overall I rate it +1 informative.

Journal Journal: Pick a Distro!! 3

Yo! This is a real quick one. I need a linux distribution. I usually use Mandrake, but it's currently in RC2, and I don't know when the final will be out. I need it like really soon, so i can start doing programming school work. I tried installing debian on this machine but it didn't work. And the performance of the knoppix hard drive install is too slow for me.

The distro must meet these requirements...

Journal Journal: Record Exec Coming to RIT!! 12

It's what all of us college students have been yearning for.

http://www.rit.edu/~930www/webnews/viewstory.php3?id=960

Check it out. The Chief Operating Officer of BMG Records is coming to give a lecture at a tech school trying to defend his anti-filesharingness. Is he in for some suprise. The coalition has been formed to boo him, harass him and send him down in a blaze of glory. But hopefully, just maybe, we can make him see the light.

Journal Journal: Best Windows Text Editor?? 7

First of all, since I didn't get any help on my last journal entry, I'll kindly ask again if anyone knows of any software that would be good.

Now, here's my new thing. Since I got a new box and a new setup I've been only installing the best of the best software. And only stuff I'm actually going to use. I'm keeping the list short. Really short. Shorter than in my Super Software journal entry. I currently only have 10 real applications that aren't games.
