Comment More that 60fps useful and hints? (Score 1) 114

Stepping beyond the frame rate difference, why are we needing more that 60 fps for single view and 120 fps for steroscopic?

Back to AMD, do they provide any other method to hint at the sort of optimisation an application is needing, if it is a question of games vs non-games, for example?

Comment Just bad press Siemens and go for another motor (Score 1) 107

I know it is a bit late, but maybe we should be flame-baiting news headlines with "Siemens electric motors incapable of flying over water, teams goes with company X". I wonder how fast Siemens makes a retraction?

Siemens may be making a legitimate request, but the way they went about it does make you wonder?

Comment Targets okay, but method usually vague (Score 1) 242

The issue I generally have with governments defining targets to meet, is that they rarely have an indication of how they plan to achieve these goals. Plucking an election pleasing number is fine, but without a real method it is just meaningless marketing.

Is anyone aware of any document or site that indicates how various countries are planning to meet their targets?

Comment who are the quality PC makers? (Score 4, Insightful) 288

Just curious who the reasonably priced, quality PC makers are and how they compare to Apple? Also, consider after sales service.

All those that come to mind are at the same price point and quality as Apple. Actually, I can only count one: Lenovo.

I am not saying you are wrong (I am not saying you are right either), I am just saying I need something to put things into context.
