Thanks for giving some real perspective.

Majority here is frighteningly brainwashed with their govt's lies. And they so sincerely believe it that it feels useless to even try to tell them the truth.

They don't realize that 1-2 western govts have got misinformation down to such an art that sometimes its actually commendable. I mean it is a great achievement and if leaders were good it would take the world forward much quicker. Unfortunately the leaders invariably are puppets run by unknown groups.

Meantime misinformation by Putin or Xi thoe of despots is very low tech low skill thing - it only seems to work inside their country because disclosing you are not brainwashed means going to jail or being shot.

When Putin or Xi type of people try misinformation outside their country it invariably flops very badly because none of us has any risk calling it out. And they have never needed or developed any soft skills for effective propaganda.

They aren't even able to put across their justified problems or objections to the world stage.

For eg after years of protesting nato stuff (right or wrong), even moving half the army to Ukraine border not many people (incl me) even knew he had any objections or problems. The world thought it's all hunky dory.

Believing this guy is some master at misinformation dies not match the facts at all.

You seem to know more than 99% of hindus !

Very few Hindus are knowledgeable about Hinduism ! That's sort of the defining factor or USP - it's a fluid religion, more of a philosophy trying to maximize good of the society all over earth rather than only its followers.

And an attempt to understand life & nature... Though some of the more complex things are dumbed down into guiding principles which get misunderstood or misused by vested interests / politicians or leaders of some expansionist religions at times

It's pretty much believe what you will, pick n choose or not, no one's going to question.

Most dont have *any religious stuff in their homes. Some have hundreds of pics or books or statues.

Those who have emigrated to other countries do seem to have some more attachment to such things & turn a bit rigid though, funnily enough.

Even some taboo things we hear aren't universal at all and sorta best effort basis, like avoid if you can or do if you can.

Gita is not easy to understand before you are like 60+ though, seriously.

The vedas are for even older minds - Biden level.

IF we were having a rational discussion.

Not when someone's claiming 'because it didn't say bio weapons lab so it wasn't one' !!

For rational 3rd parties the simple immediate question would be:

What is the reason US has these biotech labs in UKRAINE which it doesn't want to get into russian hands ?

And would it be equally justified if tomorrow's news says China or Russia or North Korea have some huge Bio/Nuclear facility in country adjacent to the US ?

(It's not like Putin depends on US-Ukranian IP for WMDs to use on Ukrainian civilians !)

Submission + - SPAM: India accidentally fires missile into Pakistan

ami.one writes: India says it accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan on Wednesday, blaming the incident on a "technical malfunction" during routine maintenance.

Delhi said it was "deeply regrettable" and expressed relief no one was killed.

Pakistan's military said a "high-speed flying object" had crashed near the eastern city of Mian Channu and its flight path had endangered passenger flights.

Both countries have nuclear weapons.

In a statement, India's defence ministry said: "On 9 March 2022, in the course of routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile. The Government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level Court of Enquiry."

Islamabad warned Delhi to "be mindful of the unpleasant consequences of such negligence" and to avoid a repeat. The object had been launched from Sirsa in Haryana state, it said.

Pakistan's air force said the missile travelled at Mach 3 — three times the speed of sound — at an altitude of 12,000m (40,000ft) and flew 124km (77 miles) in Pakistani airspace before crashing.

"The flight path of this object endangered many national and international passenger flights both in Indian and Pakistani airspace, as well as human life and property of ground," said Pakistani military spokesman Major-General Babar Iftikharon Thursday.

On Friday, Pakistan's foreign ministry said it had summoned India's chargé d'affaires to complain about the incident.

Pakistan also urged India to share the findings of its investigation into what happened.

Biggest issue with crypto (as someone explained to me here on slashdot) is that we cant survive on an inflationary currency. Deflationary currency like all Fiat is needed for people to invest in income producing assets and businesses.

If the currency keeps getting more valuable on it's own then everyone just sits on their money and it keeps increasing on it own and you dont take a risk of setting up a business or buying stock in a business for making money.

Now ever increasing value of a currency may be great on an individual level but not when everyone has it. It can be there in some small way like it currently is ALONG with our normal Fiat economy.

Which makes complete sense to me. Not that I am still not interested in launching some crazy crypto shit as soon as I have a payent filed.

So Satoshi was basically an engineer or nerd and not an economist or finance guy so this was overlooked. And it's great for speculating simply because who doesnt want a currency that keeps increasing in value while we laze around. But when majority of people iwn that currency it implodes. Thats still some long time away though.

They are a temporary phenomenon and are already on the way out now.

It's like searching on internet with google. Everyone does it as its convenient but if and when google blocks you or is itself blocked you just use something else. The internet wont stop because Google or FB or Amazon bans you.
