Besides, "the radioactive leftovers" makes it sound like the reactors vomited their contents all around them like in Chernobyl, which was not the case.

Wrong.

Both suffered reactor meltdown, both suffered 'explosive loss'
Comparison of Fukushima and Chernobyl nuclear accidents

Fukushima got lucky, the wind was blowing out to sea and 80% of the radiation due to the explosions went out to sea.

Tepco lied continually, it took years for real facts to come out.

Caveat - any time their cars crash and it's not some other drivers fault, what's from stopping them from claiming the car was being driven by a human and not autonomously? If there isn't video evidence of the human driving then I'll take what they say with a pinch of salt. Why would they even allow humans to drive the autonomous cars other than for extreme conditions like heavy rain or snow?

I wish you were joking, TTIP is a full out assault on democracy :-(

ISDS is corporations wet dream - being able to sue the govt in a kangaroo court - not a normal court any time any govt decides to write a law to protect standards, rights, public services, health or the environment.

What are gov't for again? This isn't just laws for sale, this is democracy for sale outright.

This transatlantic trade deal is a full-frontal assault on democracy

Like hell are they, After re-installing win7 there was well over a thousand meg of updates, every time .net updates - it's typically hundreds of meg.

And I swear it must have been a dozen or so reboots to get the machine up to date (over a day or two), why can't windows update in one go?

Windows 10 sounds like some shitty DRM laden spying crap, I'll be leaving it until the last minute to upgrade, if I bother at all.

Good grief not this again.

SDCs can drive much closer together

No, they can't.

Reaction time is only a fraction of stopping distance and cars already drive too close so, no, SDC's will not driver any closer than the cars you see on the roads today. Also you have to factor in the vast difference in braking distance difference between cars, braking distance can vary up to a third - for the very same car on the same day!

See:
The Power to Stop - Car Comparison - Car and Driver

Autonomous cars still have to leave more than a 1-second gap, I frequently see drivers leave a lot less.

Solar is already cheaper than nuclear (cheapest nuclear type).

Solar is far far cheaper than nuclear with reprocessing right now.

Solar is even cheaper than coal when the external costs of coal are factored in (even just the costs to health, ignoring climate change etc).

Wind and hydro are the cheapest sources of electricity right now.

An article that opened my eyes said that washing laundry with hot water is pointless, modern washing machines with modern washing powder can wash clothes without the need for hot water and many clothes will last longer/fade less when washed cold. (caveat - very dirty / stinky clothes might still need heat).

All the gov't need to do is put a leaflet through everyone's door, informing them of how they could easily cut their fuel bills. Simple solution, why don't they do it?
