Does this mean we could make large flags made from this material, with nanometer holes, that send electricity down the flagpole?

It's not only that the rocks are hard, there's more gravitational pressure, which is a big issue when it comes to drilling deeper.
Too much risk in the land of rising water and frequent hurricanes.

As much as I want Apple to upgrade their complete product line every year, chances are they make more money by selling the same model computer over several years. So even if they could produce a new Mx chip every year, it may not make business sense to do so. Spreading out their computer model upgrades over 2 years seems to be the new cycle, as the MacBook will get upgraded more frequently than the Mac Mini or Mac Studio.
After spending $5000 on an M1 Max MacBook Pro (the storage upgrades are redonkulus), I'm not planning to buy a new desktop until 2024 or 2025. This means my 2010 cheese grater Mac Pro (for Logic Pro) will have to hang on a little longer. What makes this a more tolerable position is that signs point to M1-M2-M3 being on a tick-tock performance schedule, as in the first gen has a big performance jump, the second gen is a refinement of the manufacturing process (is the M2 really 4nm?) - which means we're hoping for a more-than-middling improvement to performance scores for the M3 family.
There are a few things going on which hampered the sales of M2-based Macs.
1) Pent-up demand for a new chipset led the M1 to be extremely popular. Sales were wildly successful, moreso than expected.
2) Consumers / Corporations spent their budgets on M1's; they will wait a few years for ROI before replacing these new computers with later models.
3) M2 was not that big of a leap over the M1 performance-wise; this is not simply a hardware issue, because it will take developers some time to get better at writing code which takes advantage of the new platform, the additional cores, the neural processor, and the like.
4) Pending recession and massive layoffs are hampering sales as organizations and individuals guard their wallets.
Remember, Geothermal energy is available from every point on the globe -- it's simply more difficult to reach if you're not near an active volcano (like in Iceland). This is yet another form of energy we could tap, should we ever decide to get serious about eliminating petroleum from our daily diet.
Sometimes the NYT makes unquestionably bad ethical decisions, such as this one, to platform a career criminal.
There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
And they're quite convinced they're right
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream "Oppression"
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
"The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light"
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw

Instead, can we get television and set top box manufacturers to install a compressor/limiter on the audio outs so that when I set the volume level for a tv show the commercials don't blow past it and blast my eardrums? because commercials suck.
hahahaha if facebook's board of directors had any guts they'd fire ZUCKERBERG for causing his stock's giant collapse
