Comment This happened on Obama and Biden's watch (Score 0) 365

Remember who let this happen. People were asleep at the wheel. Those same people claimed in the 2012 election process that Russia was no longer a geopolitical issue. Those same people told Putin that they would have more flexibility in their 2nd term. Those people sold a massive amount of uranium to Russia and profited personally from it to the tune of over $100M. Those people were guests in Russia and were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for 29 minute speeches.

Those people are trying to get back into power in 2020.

Two of the major challenges with battery powered planes: Their landing weight will be the same as their takeoff weight. Typically takeoff weights can be much heavier due to being full with fuel. The landing weights typically need to be lower to not damage the landing gear.

Also, with liquid fuel planes their range increases as they consume fuel (less weight). Will electric planes be able to travel the same distance keeping the weight the same throughout the entire flight?

I realize that the article specifically talks about short range flights of less than 500 miles. But I was wondering about the possibility of longer range flights.

One reason: disasters.

After hurricane Maria ravaged Puerto Rico in 2017 the island was left without power and communications for weeks and months. The US government flew in planes with cash so that people could still do business since electronic payments were not possible. There is still a need for physical currency.

Not the parent AC, this is not specifically a Trump issue but a republican deregulation issue, bastards have been working for this since at least Regan. Its the reason we don't have safe food anymore.

Please explain how this is a deregulation issue since the 737 MAX was developed and released while the FAA was under Obama's rule. Please note that I'm not blaming the Obama administration. Mistakes were made by all parties involved: the manufacturer, the government body that regulates, and the companies that operate and maintain.

So in an area where we know that large and heavy man-made structures will sink, we are still surprised that this is still happening?

One of two things need to happen here:
1) Build it right the first time and get supports that reach down to solid ground and use materials on the levees that will resist erosion.
2) Stop building below sea level.
