I have to admit, it would be nice if my fridge would automatically re-order things I'm running out of and want always stocked.
I would not be nice if my fridge ordered 50,000 pizzas because the script kiddie down the block H@XX0R3D some NSA-mandated vulnerability.
Yeah, I'm with all of you. If he's seeing symptoms for a long cable run, it's not any kind of "lag", it's flat out signaling loss and interference problems.
We should also point out that the physical specifications for some protocols and the high signaling rates may make it such that over a certain length, no type of cable will work.
For example - networking protocols and gear are designed for "not short distance" runs, but even they top out around 100m.

A quick similar google for hdmi shows that beyond the 15 meters (50 feet) distance you need very good quality cable, and that much longer than 30m (100 ft) is not doable.
Solution? Fiber. http://www.gefen.com/kvm/ext-h... Not cheap though, $1700.
I fully agree with you - but - carbon dioxide is not in any way "pollution". It's plant food. It has likely contributed to our greening planet, which has caused deserts to shrink and our food output to reach record highs.
Either we explicitly want to cut down on CO2 production due to our skilled models saying it will hurt us - and/or we stop various forms of pollution. It's very unscientific to pretend there the same thing.
All I ask is a chance to prove that money can't make me happy.
