I've said before and I'll re-iterate here; if you own the infrastructure, that should be your business. If you supply the service/connection/media, that should be your business. You should not be allowed to do both because there will always be a conflict of interest that goes against the common good. Capitalism will always favor personal (company) greed over the well being of anyone else. Anyone who does both (eg. AT&T) should be separated into two companies: one that owns the hardware, one that owns the software. The hardware company should sell access fairly to anyone who wants to use it. The software company handles the service itself and sells access to their service using whatever physical system they license for connectivity.

The main issue with this is Twitter's responsibilities going forward, not that Trump was fact checked (because he lies about lots of things that should be pointed out). As you said, this puts them in a legally grey area and might bite them in the ass down the road. However, I don't think Trump can shut them down for "censoring" him as 1. he wasn't, and 2. he is definitely lying. But, it SHOULD be the US government telling him to stop (they won't) or people suing him for lying to the public and getting a court to force him to stop (since he is a public figure but not sure if there's legal standing there).

What Ban? Huawei is Launching 'New Editions' of Existing Smartphones With Support For Google Services (arstechnica.com) 45

Huawei has found a neat workaround to keep bundling Google apps on its smartphones: Launch new variants of old smartphones. From a report: The way the export ban has worked in practice is that Huawei devices that launched before the export ban (and some that launched even slightly after) can still be sold with Google apps. Devices that launched well after the ban, like the Mate 30 Pro, are stuck without the Google apps. So Huawei's solution, and its interpretation of the law, is that re-releases of old devices can still ship with Google apps. So meet the "New Editions" of old Huawei phones. This week, the company announced that the Huawei P30 Pro would be returning as the "Huawei P30 Pro New Edition," and earlier this year it re-launched the P30 Lite as the "P30 Lite New Edition." Both of these phones are from March 2019, so they're well over a year old now, but they both have Google app licenses, so welcome back!

As an addition; not saying they don't care about AR as they probably do. But, VR (and extension gaming) would be a lot easier to keep and entice to their platform if they didn't kill OpenGL support. AR does not inherently need Metal to function, it would have worked fine with OpenGL or Vulkan. But Valve probably does need OpenGL or Vulkan to make things worthwhile for their VR platform.

Well, Apple discontinuing support for OpenGL, not really supporting Vulkan, and pushing their own Metal API doesn't help interoperability. Apple only has themselves to blame. Having OpenGL/Vulkan and DirectX to support is probably enough effort and now Apple wants their own thing. They don't have enough of a market share on the gaming side of things to push around game companies and expect to keep what little support they had.

Open it? Or, if you look at it in gparted or some other tool (hwinfo on windows) it should show you the drive serial number which you should be able to look up online (or in manufacturer's database usually accessible via RMA'ing). There's probably a serial number format by device type.

I'm guessing the label will say what it is inside, though.

Yeah, I came here to say the same thing about his public WiFi connection. He's in a hotel; I can count on one hand the number of hotels that have had WiFi that didn't partially suck. He also said, "The visuals would glitch out for a second or two about every 10 minutes of playtime" which, I'd say, is about the best you could expect. Every 10 minutes you'd hiccup for 1 second? Damn, you hit the hotel WiFi jackpot!
