shdowhawk writes: It seems that there is a movement going on set forth by the governments of Canada, USA, and Mexico to merge the three countries together into a proposed "North American Union". Think borderless European Union, but for North America. Is it just me or has no one else heard of this?

As part of this movement, a new form of currency has already begun production in the Denver Mint. Does anyone else think that maybe we the citizens of these countries should potentially get a vote/referendum about something like this?

Ace writes: What are the best programs to keep track of all the IP addresses of incoming and outgoing connections that are connecting to your computer? I've been using firewall software but lately I've discovered strange anomolous connections to .ru sites that I can't explan (and I've run virus scan, have firewall, etc). I'd really like to find a package that logs a list of all sites, their IP's, etc (incoming and outgoing) and which program is doing it. I'd like not to have to reformat but it's looking likely.

It follows a group of elite penetration testers hired to test organizations' security using social engineering, wired/wireless penetration testing, and physically defeating security mechanisms (lock picking, dumpster diving, going through air vents/windows). They do all of this while avoiding the organizations' various security defenses as well as law enforcement. The stars of the show also did a radio spot this morning in Denver, and its MP3 is here.

DarkNemesis618 writes: A U.S. Representative has proposed that NASA keep the shuttle fleet flying past its 2010 retirement date. The move would help prevent NASA from relying on Russian rockets during the gap between the Space Shuttle retirement and the start of the Orion program. One proposal would keep the shuttle fleet flying from 2010 to 2013 while another would keep the fleet alive until the Orion program is ready in about 2015. In 2011, the exemption that has allowed NASA to purchase Soyuz rockets for trips to the Space Station ends, and they would need an extension to keep using Russian rockets until the Orion program is ready. NASA's other option lies in the private sector, but so far, the private sector's progress does not look like it will meet the 2011 deadline. Keeping the shuttle fleet flying for a couple more years seems like it would help keep American presence in space without having to rely on the Russian space program.
