In the dawn of my 42nd year, I'd like to reflect on what made the 41st so superb: Me, I am awesome.

Journal Journal: Playing catch-up

Had to call in to work today -- ice storm hit and the GF lost power for a few hours. I've been OK tho; just the roads were bad and I didn't want to chance it. A coworker got in a major 5-car accident on Sat (he's pretty much OK - but he was in the hosp wearing a neck brace for a while, and his car got Totalled.)

Working 6 days a week now - Sats are a pain. Keep me in prayer -- Thanks!

Journal Journal: Things going OK at work, need to play catch-up w/ funds tho

I've been working since Nov 5; things are going OK right now but Cmas will definitely be "light" this year. Lots of bills and outstanding stuff to catch up on. And the "official" contract ends in April, so I'll prolly be looking for work again sometime in Spring.

Keep me in prayer - I need to read my Bible *every day* - and I'll be missing Holly for 2 days this weekend because she can't come to Decatur with me for the fam reunion.

Looking fwd to seeing my brother and family again tho.

Journal Journal: Job going well, family reunion on the 1st

Sorry for not writing much lately -- been busy.

I'm working 7am-4 now, with some Saturdays coming up (supposedly) -- but I'm planning on going to the family reunion in Decatur on the 1st. As long as we have someone to take care of the cats-n-birds, Six should be coming along as well. :-)

Gimme a call if you'd like to catch up; I should have a fairly slow week til Thu or so.

Journal Journal: New Job :-)

Started a new job Monday working for the local tax people (Major worldwide company. ;-) ) I'll be working 1st shift for like the 1st time Evar.

Haven't been on the phones yet, but the training has been going well. I'm a little nervous about manning the phones (I'm 2nd-tier tech support) but I've done it before. Just have to get used to their way of doing things, and knowing WHERE TO FIND ANSWERS...

Keep me in prayer, it might turn out to be something of a high-stress job ;-)

Journal Journal: PRAYER NEEDED - My neighbor is a PSYCHO

Sunday: Six and I got back from church and I found a note in my door from the (apparently) crystal-meth-crack-ho bezotch next door (we share two halves of the same condo.)

Long story short: With NO prior warning OR provocation (I've been Mr Nice Guy the whole 2 months), she gets ALL up in my face, and THEN CALLS THE COPS ON ME -- after threatening to sic me with her "fiancee coming home from Iraq next Friday."

Little Miss Attitude proceeds to inform me (while the cops are on the way) that not only am I not fit for this "family-oriented neighborhood" -- she also warns me to stay the h--l away from her kids - like I'm some kind of threat!! PLUS, she apparently was sufficiently PARANOID that she accused Holly TO HER FACE of "harboring" me as a WANTED FUGITIVE!!!
??? What.The.F!!!

So the cops arrive. I was of course pretty steamed, but tried to be cooperative and polite to them --- but they Obviously were on the side of this idiot "neighbor" - until they ran my license, and turned up ABSOLUTELY NOTHING (As expected.)

Needless to say, I've been Insulted, PO'd, Offended, and Falsely Accused - all in the same afternoon!

This uptight little moron has Directly Threatened my right to live in peace in my own house -- believe me, I'm not taking this lying down.

I'm gonna keep my own counsel and not do anything to aggravate the situation - but if she tries ONE MORE THING, I'm calling a lawyer - AND the Homeowner's Assoc.

The way she was acting, it's like she wants to start a war -- and believe me, I did not do ANYTHING to deserve this kind of response. I *will* however *protect* myself AND my landlady - in self defense.

Journal Journal: Recovering from work project on Sat

Worked a short-term jobby (we upgraded ~64 PCs/laptops to Win XP) and Sat was a 12-hour shift. (They fed us some good stuff tho.)

Supposed to start "real" work on Nov 5 -- PLEASE keep this in prayer, as the last 2 jobs before this screwed with my start-date so many times that I dropped 'em as unreliable!

In Christ,

D

Journal Journal: Work :(

Well, sorry for not writing in such a long time. Was SUPPOSED to start work on Monday, but things have been getting pushed back and pushed back. Now I'm looking at working (for a completely different company) this weekend Fri-Sun (12 hours on Sat!!) and STILL have to make the rent +utils *somehow.* :(

Keep in touch and prayer!!!

Journal Journal: Announcing the release of my new book 22

This feels like a mega-spam entry, and I'm very self conscious about posting it, but I'm excited about this and I wanted to share . . .

I just published my third book, The Happiest Days of Our Lives. I mention it here because it's all about growing up in the 70s, and coming of age in the 80s as part of the D&D/BBS/video game/Star Wars figures generation, and I think a lot of Slashdot readers will relate to the stories in it.

I published a few of the stories on my blog, including Blue Light Special. It's about the greatest challenge a ten year-old could face in 1982: save his allowance, or buy Star Wars figures?

After our corduroy pants and collared shirts and Trapper Keepers and economy packs of pencils and wide-ruled paper were piled up in our cart, our mom took our three year-old sister with her to the make-up department to get shampoo and whatever moms buy in the make-up department, and my brother and I were allowed to go to the toy department.

"Can I spend my allowance?" I said.

"If that's what you want to do," my mom said, another entry in a long string of unsuccessful passive/aggressive attempts to encourage me to save my money for . . . things you save money for, I guess. It was a concept that was entirely alien to me at nine years old.

"Keep an eye on Jeremy," she said.

"Okay," I said. As long as Jeremy stood right at my side and didn't bother me while I shopped, and as long as he didn't want to look at anything of his own, it wouldn't be a problem.

I held my brother's hand as we tried to walk, but ended up running, across the store, past a flashing blue light special, to the toy department. Once there, we wove our way past the bicycles and board games until we got to the best aisle in the world: the one with the Star Wars figures.

I'm really proud of this book, and the initial feedback on it has been overwhelmingly positive. I've been reluctant to mention it here, because of the spam issue, but I honestly do think my stories will appeal to Slashdotters.

After the disaster with O'Reilly on Just A Geek, I've decided to try this one entirely on my own, so I'm responsible for the publicity, the marketing, the shipping, and . . . well, everything. If this one fails, it will be because of me, not because a marketing department insisted on marketing it as something it's not.

Of course, I hope I can claim the same responsibility if (when?) it finds its audience . . . which would be awesome.

Journal Journal: Sorry it's been so long...

Been having a couple of really weird weeks, and I don't like to write about bad stuff too much.

Holly and I aren't really "dating" exclusively anymore, just more-than-friends, with $interest. Still no job yet.

Joined the foot-wiping church tho (which happens to be Holly's church), and have had really great discussions with the pastor.

Volunteered for the homeless ministry. :)

Need to pick up my Bible and start reading it every day again...

Journal Journal: The Flaming Lips Sold-Out to Big Tobacco

This past week the Flaming Lips played at La Zona Rosa. The tour they're on is sponsored by Camel. The shows are free. The fans are subjected to intense Camel marketing / recruitment by the cancer merchant. Ugly companies like Camel will pay anything for coolness. Apparently the Flaming Lips decided it was time to sell theirs. Oh, and Dinosaur Jr. must have caught Camel's attention with their Green Mind album cover, because they're on the tobacco gravy train as well.

Journal Journal: Movin' on up...

To the East side... To a Deluxe apartment, in the sky... ;-)

Holly has the 1st month's rent in advance now; just need to get $utilities turned on (electric, gas, water, Cable Internet, etc) and receive Key - then I can start moving some $stuff in bit by bit. I'm really looking fwd to this :) 67 :)

Have received some $Income already in MO (which is more than I can say for SC!!) -- now just need to find $steady-work. Passed out some business-cards to Holly's friends and church(es).

We went to Holly's church in the morning (10:30) and the new (2-weeks!) Pastor did a FOOT Wiping ceremony for the **whole congregation** during Communion!! <3

What a witness... I liked him right away - he kinda resembles Max von Sydow from " What Dreams May Come ". ( He even likes being called " Chief "! ) ;-)

After hanging out and havg $lunch ( She's a GREAT cook - we had Green Bean Casserole and Pork Tacos/Tostadas -- yumyumyum!! ), we also went to another church for 3pm - and BOTH were awesome messages. I like both churches about equally; hope to starting getting involved Immediately and begin doing my Churchplant stuff. :) :)

Keep me in prayer - things are starting to MOVE. *** F*I*N*A*L*L*Y !!!!!! ***
