Submission + - European Data Protection Reform is Badly Broken (edri.org)

jrepin writes: New leaked documents show that European countries, pushed by Germany, are systematically working to destroy the fabric of European privacy legislation. Under the current proposals, far from being provided with security fit for the digital age, Europe’s citizens right to data protection would be devoid of meaning.

According to the leaked proposals, crucial privacy protections have been drastically undermined, including the right to be asked for consent, the right to know how your data are used and the right to object to your data being used, minimum standards of behaviour for companies exploiting individuals’ data. In several places, the text would not likely pass judicial scrutiny under Europe’s human rights framework.

Ah yes, that's why my office has plastic sheeting down everywhere..

Motion sickness happens in 3 cases.

1. You get motion sick playing FPS games on a normal monitor.. VR isn't for you
2. Crappy refresh rate on the VR screen, or high latency between physical and VR movement, both Occulus and Vive have pretty much fixed that.
3. Loss of tracking.. DK1 didn't have it, DK2 does, Vive does, but that's because they have things to occlude.

Huge databases full of personal info are gigantic targets, and properly securing them is very very difficult (and what's worse, uneconomical, since most of them are owned by publicly traded companies)..

Pandora's box is open now, but don't say the tinfoiled warriors didn't warn you..

Bullshit.

Have you ever noticed there is a theme that runs through these sort of things? It's always some simple substance, that we're obviously not getting enough of, and it's "the cure".

None of the papers he presented were studies, they were just OBSERVATIONS. There was nothing scientific behind it, and there remains nothing scientific behind it, which is why, not surprisingly, the scientific community wasn't interested.

Cathcart was an orthopedic surgeon, who the fuck cares about what he thinks about immunology?
