Submission + - Canadian Federal Court issues financial ruling on Teksavvy vs Voltage (michaelgeist.ca)

Mashiki writes: Defending privacy is expensive, as has been shown in the months on legal case between Teksavvy and Voltage. Voltage, is currently demanding subscriber information from Teksavvy, who've asked for $335k in expenses and Voltage who stated that it would only cost them $884. The judge ordered the payment at $11 per subscriber, or $22k in expenses. So does this mean that people who've been given a "notice and notice" will now be getting more legal threats from Voltage? It may end up back before the courts if Teksavvy decides that the requested amount is too low or whether or not Voltage will even pay the requested amount. Or it may end up quietly going away, if Voltage does pay, they will likely end up going after the individuals in question. As the courts have already stated, that filing a notice and not following through is considered copyright trolling.

SC2K was made when they were still pure Maxis, SC3K was made when they were a part of EA, both are exceptionally great games. I used to re-make Canuck Cities in 2K and 3k, posting them to BBS's, I'm sure someone could find them still if they wanted. Off the top of my head, I did Toronto, Windsor, London, Kitchener/Waterloo, Hull, Ottawa, Halifax, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Victoria, Vancouver. Small cities and towns like Woodstock, Ingersoll, Kingston, etc. They were very popular for people to tinker with, I think I was 15 or so at the time.

Anyway, I grabbed Cities: Skylines. I have a few complaints, one of which is the lack of building diversity. Though modding gets around that very easily. Overall, it's like the days of 3K, where there is micromanagement, you can buy up neighboring plots of land to expand your city and watch just how great or screwed up things can get.

Excuse me, but now it's Apple's fault that CNN can't do research?

They're partially complicit, they could have contacted CNN to point out that they were wrong. They could have dumped out a press release on their website saying it was incorrect, but they didn't. They simply rode the train because it was the easiest thing to do.

Back a few years ago(like 15) Ford and Chysler were testing storage tanks full of anti-freeze on their vehicles that were heated using exhaust. The idea was to speed up the warming cycle for both the cabin and engine and reduce wear problems. Of course it didn't end up being much of anything either since it had all kinds of technical problems, and heated sensors and temporary electric high-flow oil pumps solved the problem in a more cost effective manner.

Good luck finding a clear rooftop here in Canada during the winter where said solar PV will work. Right now the average roof has between 2" to 2' of snow on it. Every house and business that I've seen with an array is covered and even the type where they rotate with the sun are producing nil in the way of electricity.
