I will say i bought and installed their thermostats, and i do like them. especially the remote control, with my travel schedule..

But i fully agree that things that are safety devices (like fire/smoke detectors) should be as simple as possible.

I highly doubt that they have applied/executed a RAM analysis on their smoke detectors (either do to ignorance or complexity), but my bet is their reliability would be much lower than they believe them to be if they did. and then you have to ask your self. do you want 10-20% risk of failure in a lifesaving device? not a chance.

Personally i think their protect product is pointless, and more of a liability for them and the user than anyone needs.

What bluetooth headphones are these people using? I've only had to pair mine once with each device I use it with, and never had to mess with changing frequencies. I have to charge it once a week for like 2 hours, but that's a fair trade-off for not having a wire attached.

That's Slashdot's angle this year. Post studies that seem too stupid to be true but actually are. What better way to fool everyone? :-D

If you're running fiber to the premises (as basically all decently fast and non-latent Internet access entails), then it's trivial to include POTS functionality in the endpoint terminal at the home of business. Carriers should be required to maintain the POTS network until they come up with a better, non-wireless solution to replace it. I think that, in general, the network will be maintained IN MOST areas for at least another 10-20 years. Too much legacy equipment that's dependent on it right now. Even in Verizon areas damaged by Sandy (Fire Island), Verizon is changing their mind about providing shitty wireless service only and will be providing FiOS service.

I grew curious about Sriracha sauce after seeing it mentioned in several places, so I bought some a few weeks back after trying the Sriracha sauce on a Subway sub.

My wife & I have been getting Smart Ones because a) they're cheap and b) we're trying to lose weight. The big down side is that they are pretty bland for the most part, so I've been dousing them with Sriracha.

It's nice & spicy, without being overwhelming. The other thing I like about it is that it's not runny like other hot sauces. It has a thicker consistency, like ketchup. I was a little surprised though to find out that it's only between 1000-2500 on the Scoville scale.

I go to a chiropractor for neck & back issues. I typically go once or twice a month, though I haven't been for a couple of months due to working extra jobs. It does wonders for getting kinks out & un-pinching nerves. I have some trouble spots that feel much better after an adjustment. I think where chiropractic gets into trouble is with some of their other claims, like helping allergies, etc. I have allergies too, and as far as I can tell, chiropractic has never done anything to help them. I think they should stick to the neck & back claims, because really that should be enough.

To patent and then just openly license? It would prevent others from trying to sue then if their patents were already established, rather than having to go through the process of fighting off a patent troll and attempting to establish prior art.
