your fear are misplaced . Migratory birds have been using Earth's magnetic field to navigate accurately for ages. AFAIK Pulsars are having somewhat simmilar mechanism. additionally any navigation system is supposed to give you a genral sense of direction don't expect it to plot the curve for you.

you make it sound as if mind has a meditation like sharp focus during day dreaming. But its not the case. day dreaming is mostly dominated by stray thought. it can't be Directed to be productive . That't the reason its useless for your boss. but some new age writer like Rhonda Bryne says that day dreaming can change everything as per your wish. that include your boss. go figure

Tipping Point was over simplification of whole meme spreading process . its more of a post facto analysis and less of a "How to start a meme" guide. A better book for the same purpose IMHO is Crossing The Chasm by Geff Moore . a little old but basic premise is still sound . Galswell's work enables you to talk about the Word of mouth /meme and stuff . talk in cocktail party but if you have to engineer a meme for living it fails .

Valid point . but that doesen't give any one a free ride to prepetuate any bullshit theory too. you might notice that by this standard ID also has a strong case.

Drawanism has same relationship with Evolution what Dawkinism has got with Atheism. Idea is far older than these two people . their contribution is that they bring the debate to mainstream audience . No small achievement by any yardstick.Problem is that some people identify more with the champion than the cause . does that hurt the cause and prevent us from having a healthy debate ? Yes . but does it give others to discredit the champion . NO .
TFA is another popular science article .Popular yes but scientific ? Not completely
