Dungeon Keeper, which GOG.com gave away free the other day. How did this ever manage to fly under my radar? Love it!

Advanced Edition coming out soon! Because what we need is a hard mode...
Who needs a scripting system that can be comprehended when you can just copy-and-paste gibberish from other sources without ever understanding it?
You think there's something wrong with PowersHell? No problem: there's a scriplet for that.
Good god, it's been so long since I signed for a credit card transaction I can barely even remember it. Next you'll be telling me that the USA prefers to write on bits of paper to send money, taking ages for it to finally be transacted. I wonder. Are there people who are responsible for driving around a nuclear-powered, one-ton robotic laboratory on another planet, who swing by the supermarket before going home and pay for their goods after signing a little bit of paper?
Mind you, chip-and-PIN is hardly secure. The attitudes and policies of merchants is incredible, if you ever have an insider's view.
Definitely agree here. It's cross-platform and I've put it in place for various use-cases and it hums along nicely, efficiently and effectively. As there's a Linux client it'll also run on a NAS box. No need to hand your data out to a third party nor have any dedicated hardware.

I've posted "anti-vandalism" comments and they've been very unpopular so I figured I'd crack a joke about it. No nefarious intent.
Nice karma you got there. It'd be a real shame if something untoward were to happen to it...
/.'s lack of engagement has not been good: I definitely agree with you there. But assuming that the beta will plough ahead, ignorant of the feedback, is a childish, knee-jerk reaction. I shouldn't be surprised; this is the Internet, after all. I'm not sure what you mean by "when there's no Slashdot left?". I think you are delusional. The silly vandalism that's been caused by you lot won't cause
I am not Switzerland. I'm on the other side to you: I want my news for nerds and stuff that matters, rather than a crusade to release all my pent up aggression.
I think I should have quantified what made me so annoyed by it all. From what I read, a lot of those complaining hadn't seen any indication that the things they disliked/found broken would stay that way. No-one had been closing bugs on a bug database with WONTFIX and telling people their feedback was crap. I certainly think that

Have you been spying on me whilst I've been watching XCOM: Enemy Within "Let's Play" videos? I knew someone was watching!

SMART is, however, usually right if it says a drive is failing. So if it gives you a 10% chance of a heads-up it's worth monitoring.
I've had a few Seagate refurbs that didn't arrive already faulty. They showed signs of failure within the first year. Seagate warranty just means you'll be paying more on postage than a new disk.
Once the government has finished fucking up our Internet access completely.
