Earlier this week I put in a request for pen-testing a new server I had completed. I think it's secure, but that isn't my area of expertise, so I have the experts kick the shit out of my server to see if anything falls over.
I was thinking about upgrading and figured I'd wait until the S6 was available, but those two flaws make it a deal breaker.
The feds have been putting pressure on banks to stop taking accounts for businesses they do not approve of. So far, they've gone after accounts of the porn industry and gun stores. I fully expect them to target tobacco stores in the near future. They do this by suggesting to the bank that they would find it necessary to conduct thorough and repeated audits if the banks work with "less than desirable" businesses.
So it depends upon whether the contract was signed under the author's business or as an individual, right? I'm guessing either is plausible, so it's simply a matter of looking at the original wording of the contract to see who signed it. Was it signed by James Rigney or by Robert Jordan, Inc. I'm not a lawyer, just asking questions.
PSN has absolutely nothing to do with Sony Pictures. They happened to be owned by the same multi-national corporation, but don't share a damn thing.
A large scale DDoS is almost impossible to prevent. There are things you can do to reduce the damage, but if the bot-net is large enough, you're fucked.
Don't forget that massive penalty if you want to cancel the contract.
I think at least some blame does need to be lay at the feat of Sony and Microsoft here, but not because of 'network security' but rather creating the risk in the first place where there does not need to be one.
How about I kick in your front door and steal all your stuff? After all, you didn't put in place absolutely perfect security, so it's really your own fault for allowing me into your home.
Or a better analogy. I park a big rig in your driveway so you can't get into your home. That's what a DDOS is, basically. And if the "enemy" has enough resources, a DDOS is nearly impossible to prevent.

That's complete bullshit. Sony Pictures has absolutely nothing to do with SCEA. The only thing they have in common is the same parent company. That don't share even the tiniest bit of IT infrastructure.
