ITER is a giant money pit and has been from the start. I do hope that the congress critters redirect at least some of the funds towards US based non-tokamak alternatives which have struggled to get funding in light of the giant sucking sound that is ITER.

And to those going OMG! Fossil fuels!

Assume that the remaining members of ITER are successful before they are bled dry. Do you honestly think that any commercial venture will exclude customers in non-ITER countries? That would be pretty stupid. Better that the US pay a premium on each reactor built (assuming that someday ever happens) than to continue to pour money down a hole today.

Go back to the original walk/do not walk and add "run". No timers so nobody knows quite how long it lasts. ...

You misread my post. I have had my posts removed from my newsfeed. Not talking about friends, etc. If I view my newsfeed sorted by "most recent", fb has removed content. If I post about puppies, shows up fine. So again, not only is fb denying my content to others, its mechanisms are denying it to me as well unless I view directly on my home page.

you have to select the pay as you go option. activating the sim will give you a new phone number which you may then toss when you are done with your time in the US. I would suggest forwarding your old phone to the temporary number or telling those from where ever it is you are coming from that do need to still contact you the temporary number.

If the job pays that poorly and the benefits are that lame, go elsewhere. If your skill set makes it the only job you are qualified for, get new skills. 25 years and no retirement benefits. Sounds like a lot of non-union workers who must save for their own retirement directly. And certainly it was no surprise right? 25 years is a long time to be waiting patiently for that fully funded 401k to appear.

And that 3 credit hours amounts to teaching on the order of 30 classes, usually less due to holidays, breaks and exams. At $3500 per class taught, that works out to be $117/hour. Granted, some more hours to grade HW and exams. Even at 1/3, $39/hour is pretty good pay and a lot of people would take it. And most of these classes do not change significantly semester to semester so once a teaching plan is in place variations are going to be incremental.

Note too that one can also try to only teach classes at night thus keeping a day job full or part time. That is pretty common with city based colleges where faculty are often employed professionally.
