Weekend of 06-Feb-2004 to 08-Feb-2004
Movie and chow
The weekend started well enough. I went to see the Butterfly Effect Friday afternoon, around 16:30. I actually didn't get to the theater until after that because I had to wrap some stuff up at work, but that's OK. I'm sure I only missed crappy previews, so that's not a biggie.
The movie is actually pretty good. Never once was he 'Kelso.' I liked it and it was interesting to see the un-intended consequences of doing things over in your past. No typical ending either, so that's a plus as well.
Well, after words, Priscilla was a little upset since I saw the movie without her. But as far as I knew, she was going to happy hour with some of her co-workers, so I figured I'd be good until 19:00 or so. Well, she was ok with it after a bit and we went out to eat. Mmmmm. I had that Taco Salad I always get these days. Good stuff. After that, we went to Best Buy and I bought Halo for my 1 week old XBox. Nice. I played from like 23:00 until 03:00! Fun game. I can't wait to try out multi-player. But, I had to be at church at 08:30 for casino night set up, so off to bed I went.
Good news on a busy day
Mental note: Don't play video games until 03:00 if I have to get up around 07:45 the next day. After getting out of bed and a once over with the comb and toothbrush, I was out the door. I had the breakfast of champions on my way to church: 2 Extreme sausage sandwiches (minus buns) and small tea from Jack-In-the-Box. Good stuff, indeed.
I got to church a little late, and found everyone working on setting up for casino night. We had to take all the tables out of the shed and move them into the family center. Not that bad, since we used trucks to move everything. But the real chore was assembling the tables, setting up chairs, and making sure everything looked nice. We were done pretty quickly, and I started doing miscellaneous things around the family center to help out before I started sorting card decks. I would not be playing any card games, as they are not my thing. My game is Roulette and that's what I was going to do that night! But, as I was setting stuff up, I got a phone call on my cell. The caller ID said unknown. Usually, I don't answer those to save my minutes, but this one I did take, since I have unlimited nights and weekends. Well, it was the people from the job I've been applying for for the past 2 years. I made it to the interview!! Sweet. But, I was told a lot of specifics and how to prepare. One thing was certain: the sad little suit I bought back in High School and used through college wasn't gonna cut it anymore. I needed to go shopping. Now, I love to hoard cash and hate spending, but I knew that if I wanted things done right and to look good, I would have to plop down some cash. So, after setting up at church, I went to get Priscilla, who waited at home. But, we had to wait a bit, since she was trying to get Sarah McLachlan tickets. So, I played a little DDR Ultramix. Yea, good times. After a fun Atkins lunch at Fridays, we went to the Mall. Well, I hung out as much as possible, but I dove right in to get some suits, ties, etc. I even got some fancy shoes and a nice belt. The only thing missing is a bling bling watch. Maybe the profit sharing will help with that. The total hit to the wallet was $1100, but I got my folks to pay for the over coat. This is a really nice over coat so they had to shell out quite a bit. Trust me, I look totally different than my normal work clothes(jeans & T-Shirt), but when I walk in the room, I want them to think, "This is the guy." I'll wait on getting my hair cut and such. I'll get that done as the interview date approaches.
After destroying the "New Computer Fund," I went to church and had a good time at the Casino Night. Good times! The grand prize was a trip to Vegas for 2. Of course, I never had time to play, just run the roulette table. All in all, I had a great time, though. After everything, the clean up went really well. No one wanted to stay late or come back early in the morning to clean up. So I was out of there before 23:45! Not bad.
You know, the guys in K of C are a bit older than my KPsi brothers(of course), but its almost the same, you know. Good times and good fellowship. After a bit more Halo, I was off to bed.
Sunday with family
Sunday was good fun. With no breakfast, we took off for New Braunfels to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. My parents were on the way from Houston, as well. But, the hungriest of the lot(us) got there first. Everyone got there and we had a good lunch. After lunch, we all went to Priscilla's parents house. We watched some AFL and everyone, except the Atkins people, had some cake. The afternoon went by quickly and it was time for my parents to go back to Houston so my sister could watch the Grammys. Before that, we stopped at Target so I could buy her a CD and Starbucks so I could get her a vanilla latte. I don't know why she likes those, but she does. As my parents were leaving, they gave me the money for the overcoat. Now, since everything is getting altered, they had to take my word that it looks really good.
Once my parents left, Priscilla and I went to the storage to get her veil and crown. Jennifer is borrowing it for her wedding. Priscilla was surprised to find that the crown had tarnished a bit. After a quick cleaning, we were back on the road to San Marcos to visit some friends. We visited Bill and Baylea. Good times. I like Baylea's pic with the AR-15. Quite a cool friend Priscilla has there.
We then had a good dinner at IHOP and bought food at HEB and a few other things at Target. We drove home and put up the food. We did all this to finish up the weekend with some DDR. A good

Journal Journal: Vacation week 03-Nov-2003 to 09-Nov-2003

Vacation week:
Monday
Today is the day. My interview was at 13:00 and I was ready. Well, as ready as you can get for it. I searched around on the web for what this portion of the test is exactly about and I could find nothing useful. No problem, though. I am still confident.
I really can't go into specifics, but it was odd. So, I get there and there are a ton of cameras everywhere. I am a little nervous, but there was a person there to calm me down a bit and chat with me before the real interview started. I think I did well, and I have an advantage over other candidates, since the interview was basically what I do every day at work. Oh well, it's cut-throat and ultra competitive to get in, so any little advantage is worth it. Later, I watched some WWE action as I prepared for my surprise trip to Houston.
Tuesday
I wanted to leave extra early, but I didn't take off until around 07:30. I got to Houston at 10:30 and surprised my mom first. My mom called my dad, who didn't believe I was there. But, I answered the phone, so he believed me then. My mom and I then went to my sister's school to eat lunch with her. She was very surprised with my sudden appearence. I told her we would goto the mall that night so I could buy her an early birthday present. After that, my mom and I went to eat at one of my favorite Mexican resturants in Houston. They have this big dinner that they serve all day. Very Atkins friendly, for a Mexican place. Once my sister got out of school, we went to the mall where I bought her some stuff from Hot Topic. I wanted to buy a Zelda shirt from there, but the $18 price tag made me think twice.
When we got back home, I worked on my sister, my brother and my James' computers. I got them all up and running as much as I could in the time I was there. My sister's computer posts. My brother can now capture video from his Digi Cam and James, well at least he can play command & Conquer now. Need rest...
Wednesday
Today, I had to drive back to Austin and study for my Oracle test. The drive was pretty good and the XM radio kept me entertained. The drive seems a wee bit longer in the day. However, I did manage to stop at Meyer's to chow on some BBQ! But, I got home and studied from 11:30 ish until 5, when I drove to ACC to take my test. I think it went OK, but we'll see when I get the results today.
That night, I went to see the matrix. Not a bad ending. It did take me some time to digest the story and 'get' it. But I think I have a better understanding of the story after I let it digest and read some of the /. comments about it.
Thursday
Work Work Work. Laundry, and cleaning up the apartment a bit. That's all I did all freakin day. But, the evening was fun. I set the VCR to tape CSI, Survivor and Without a Trace and off I went to Wurstfest. So, basically, all the people in New Branfuels get together to eat sausages and drink beer. Good times. But, when I got home, the VCR had not taped ANY of my shows!!! WTF?!?! Dude, I need a Tivo or the Time Warner DVR.
Friday
Priscilla took Friday off as well, so we packed up and after a quick lunch at Pok-e-Joes, we were off to Waco. We got there around 3 and checked into our Hotel. We then went over to campus for a bit to check out the book store and meet up with Dan. We had some coffee and took pics of the bears. But after a nice chat, Priscilla and I went to Target to buy candy for the parade the next day.
Alas, when we got to Target, all the Halloween candy (75% off) was gone, so we had to buy regular candy instead. No bigge, the total was only $8. So, back to camups we went to get ready for the bonfire. We met up at the music school and there were already several alumni there. I needed a Tuba for the bonfire, so I got with Becky and she gave me a horn. Granted, it was old and crappy, but it worked(kinda)
The bonfire was fun. It was a blast to play again. I haven't played in so long, so my face felt a little wierd, but it all came back to me after a bit. The freshman did manage to get the bonfire going this year, so we all rejoiced! But, it was hard playing with the wood burning.
After the bonfire, I made my way to the School of Music to put my tuba up for the game the next day. On my way there, I ran into Mark! It was great to see him again. He looks the same as he did in school. I thought the Air Force would leave him all buff. Alas, it did not happen. After I put up the tuba, I went to Waco Hall. But none of the alumni wanted to hang out, so Priscilla and I went back to the room, to get some shut eye.
Saturday
The day of the big game. Priscilla and I woke up around 05:00 to have a big breakfast at IHOP. There were people already there, so we weren't the early birds that day. After IHOP, we made our way to the music school to catch a bus downtown for the parade. Nothing like band alumni in a yellow dog! Well, we got downtown and found our ride. Basically, it was just a hay ride through Waco. I held the BUGWB Alumni sign, but I still threw candy at the kids. I opted to walk next to the hay ride instead of riding in it. I enjoyed the stroll. The parade was fun and I saw several of my friends as I walked along the parade route. Good times!
Later, Priscilla and I made our way to the stadium for rehearsal. THere wasn't really much rehearsal for us, so I opted to play catch with the current BUGWB dudes. Am wierd? Am I the only 'old guy' that is active? No one else wanted to toss the football with the current members. Well, I had fun. We then marched into the stadium and around the field. After we marched around, I ran right up to my old tuba spot to play. After pregame, the rest of the tubas made their way up. It was a blast playing with them again. Halftime was OK, but I was on the big screen A LOT, so that's cool. Well, the Baylor Bears made the game interesting at first, but the Red Raiders whupped us good. Still, it was fun playing, though the band did little playing after half time. And, since BUGWB wasn't palying much, I went and sat with the old people. And who should stumble over but John dog. Wow, we can never get more than 3 McPs at the same time at the same place. Maybe next time.
After the game, we sang at the 50 yard line and took off to grab some chow. We went all over waco looking for a place that didnt have a 1 hour wait. We finally went to Malibu Burrito(or something like that). I had a fajita salad as I watched UT thrash OSU. Not fun, since there were some UT people there. I get enough of them back in Austin. Now some had infected Waco?? Not cool. After a long chat with Sydney, we went back to the room for the night. I think i was asleep before 22:00.
Sunday
Sunday started off well. Priscilla and I had lunch at Ninfa's before checking out the floats. As always, the floats were parked outside of Waco hall. We took a bunch of pics this year. We then came back to Austin where we went grocery shopping, to church and just watched some football.
We did manage to goto Wan Fu for dinner, which is always great tasting. We wrapped up the weekend with Sunday Night football as I prepared for my return to work and the school week.
Monday
Back to work and school.

Journal Journal: Weekend of 24-Oct-2003 2

Good news to kick off the weekend
This Friday was like any other Friday: Tons of work to do and not enough time to do it all. But, there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I knew I was going to the Rockets-Spurs game that night. And the Rockets opened a can on the spurs. I was the first time I had ever seen Yao Ming in person. Priscilla said he looked like a giant little boy. I guess he does have a babyface, unless he is dunking on you.
But, there was an added bonus to the day. I got a call back and I have an interview on 03-Nov-2003. This is the second part of the DLPT IV. As you may know, I took the first one in May. They said it would take about a month to get the results, but in this case, it took 5 months. I guess they were astounded by my answers to part 1 or something.
A trashing and Old friends at BU
My Saturday started just how I like them. I went to yoga class at 08:00. I like going there a lot. I think the heated room helps me push myself farther than I could in a cold room. Plus, I always feel like I just got hit by a truck after class. But, I am more flexible than before and I was pretty flexible to begin with. Either way, yoga has helped me tone up certian areas that i dont normally work out.
After yoga, I went and had breakfast at Luby's. The breakfast buffet is really good! I like going there, but I still perfer the Golden Corral breakfast.
Took a quick shower then hopped over to Fry's. I want to build my own system, since I can recycle a lot of the parts I already have in my current system. Plus, I pretty sure I cannot get a barebones system from the sales people, so I'll see how much it would be to build my own. If its cheaper to buy one, I will. If not, I will build.
Much to my surprise Sam, my Pledge brother, was at the game. Sam is a fighter pilot in the Air Force, so it was good to see him. The last I heard of him, he was flying around George W. in Crawford. Well, he was just divorced in August and he already had another girl with him. It was good to see him move on after Jen. But that is another story for another time
After watching the Bears get thrashed by UT, we went to Georges and had some beers. There were some DRUNK UT people there. It was too funny, but a good time.
Good football and chillin at home
On Sunday, we did our usual. We went to Church and we had lunch at Pok E Joes. Mmmmm. We went to the mall, since I need to purchase a new belt for my interview. I decided to wait and not get it just yet. Also, we went to CompUSA to compare computer part prices. I think I will have to get them Online, since they are cheaper than Fry's. I think it would be cheaper for me to make my own parts than to buy them from CompUSA. When we got home, we watched some football and had a nice dinner at home. The Titans won, but the Texans did not come through this week. Plus Carr is starting to feel the effects of the 1,000,000 NFL tackles he has experienced. Not a good sign. At least Tony Banks is there to lend a hand.
Let's see how the weekend before my vacation pans out. Plus, I'd better send that homecoming stuff too, huh? I'm on it.

Journal Journal: Weekend of 20-Sept-2003

Night at the Movies
On Friday night, Priscilla was at her mom's house, so I decided to take advantage and see a movie. I saw Cabin Fever, which was pretty cool. It's odd, since Resident Evil came out, there have been a lot of movies about a sickness or disease infecting the world. For brevity, I just say that they got the T-Virus. Of course, there is no cure, so they must die. But, pretty good.
Food, Football and Friends
So, it was BU versus Sam Houston State. But, Priscilla and I decided to do some stuff before. I got up at 8:00 and went to a Yoga class. It was really cool. I thought I was limber, but the people there made me feel like I had a long way to go. I'm certian I'll go back again.
Later, Priscilla and I went to Pok e Joe's for lunch. It was good fun. We watched football the whole time. After that, we drove down to Waco for the game. At the game, once again, I ran in with the Baylor Line. This time, I was running with the trupmet and clarinet flag. I saw a lot of my friends there, including Pimptown, Julie, Christina, Tina, and Jenni, who is now in Houston. I'll call her up next week, when I go down there. I think we'll call John and Colleen too. Maybe we'll go visit John and Colleen's apartment. I want to see how close they live to the Compaq Center. Anyways, Baylor won 27-6.
After the game, we ate at IHOP. It was good, like always. After dinner, we went for a stroll around campus. It was the KD battle of the bands, and, of course we were invited. We hung there for a while and then went for a stroll on campus. Sadly, the fountian where we shared our first kiss has been removed as Baylor is going to put a new, improved fountian in it's place. I hope the new fountian is as good as the last one. But, it was fun to walk around campus like we did when we were dating at Baylor. We took more pics everywhere. But, it was late, so we drove back home.
Lunch with Friends
We woke up at 10:30 but we managed to make it to church on time. After church, we went to San Marcos to have lunch with Priscilla's co-worker, Bill. It was good fun. We had some steaks and had a good time. We then went to Wal Mart to buy a few things for the apartment.
We then went to HEB to shop for the week. But, most importantly, we watched the WWE pay-per-view! It was a good show, indeed. Sick bump by Shane! I say 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Priscilla also gave me my birthday presents early. She couldn't wait till tomorrow night, so I said "sure." She gave me lots of stuff that I have wanted for a while. What an awesome wife. The only thing missing is my Hererra colonge from my mom. But, I'm sure I'll get that on Friday night.
It's funny. Laugh.

Journal Journal: Talk like a Pirate day

Its talk like a Pirate day!! Yay! Lets see the results of my test.
You are a Pirate Second Class

Do you remember the last time you took a chance? I do. It was when you decided to leave the security of your mother's womb and headed for the bright light. It's time to head for the next bright light, my friend. Creativity is not your strong suit. You are good at doing what you are told to do and that, in itself, is a gift. It's not a gift to you, mind you, but rather a gift to those who will be there to tell you what to do. You like long walks on the beach and cuddling, but would never admit that to your Guy friends who think you are okay but can't always remember your name. Tapioca pudding seems a bit extreme for a fellow such as yerself, what with all the bumps and stuff. It's a good thing ye be on a pirate ship, otherwise, ye'd would be walkin' because ye be positively pedestrian. Have a nice day.

Buffet and Friends
Priscilla came up here to Round Rock, so we decided to try out Pok E Joe's friday night buffet. I think it was well worth it. We then went to CD wearhouse, where I bought a cool Tori Amos TV&B poster. After that, we went to Amado's house to chill for a while. It was fun, but we took off early, since we were going to drive to Dallas in the morning.
BU Football is Back!!
So, this weekend, we made the trip to Dallas to watch some Baylor Football. We got to Dan's house right at 16:00. We had some burgers and hot dogs. Not too bad. It was good to see:
Prinya, Jay, Sydney, Dan-ball, Dean and Courtney, Daphne and Josh, and Kevin and Crissy. We all packed in to Dan's new house for some chatting and eating. After the food was gone, we took off for the UNT campus. We parked in the hood, near a bunch of apartments behind the stadium. After running back to the truck, since Priscilla forgot her rings on the dashboard of my truck, we made it into the stadium. We, as always, sat next to the band. Besides watching the bears lose 52-14, we had a good time. Prinya has the pics on his site.
Meeting Friends on Sunday
We spent the night at Kevin's place Saturday night. They had to goto church in the morning, so we took off around 9:30. We were hungry, so we hit a Jack in the Box near Kevin's house. After an hour long breakfast, we drove to Wal Mart, so Priscilla could buy some junk. Soon, we were on our way to Sophie's. She lives in a nice place, but its right next to the airport, so every 5 minutes, you hear a plane taking off. Not good if you like to sleep. Maybe that's why those Med students are all stressed?? They are being stressed subconciosly(sp?), and that is affecting them in ways they cannot imagine. Just a thought.

After visiting with Jennifer and Sophie, we took off for Prinya's. You see, I don't like driving in Dallas/Ft. Worth since the person who laid out the streets let his/her child do it in the middle of a sugar high. We couldnt find the street Prinya lived off of, because there is only one exit (going eastbound) for it, and it runs parallel to I-30, on the southside. So, first we passed it. Then we exited on the correct street, but we never reached the stop sign we were looking for (there was none.) After a few minutes, we called Prinya up and he came and got us. It's pretty bad, since he doesnt know his own neighborhood very well. Then again, he hasnt been there that long, so I'm sure he'll learn in good time.
Once we found him, we went and had lunch at the Outback steak house and watched the Texans win against the Dolphins! Yay 1-0. Texans are at 1.000! Wooohooo. After lunch, we drove back to Prinya's and from there, back to Austin. Good times.
Good Night
What a way to finish the weekend! Watching the Titans beat the Raiders after getting thrashed twice last season. Good Times! And good night!

Journal Journal: Weekend of 23-Aug-2003 and other stuff

Next job?
I was told that the results for the test I took in May could take up to 2 months to get back to me. It has been 3 months to the day, and no word. I did call them up, and they stated that I wasn't the only one that had not gotten the results back. It's good and bad at the same time. Good, since I still am a candidate. Bad, since It's been so long. But hey, no news is good news, right?
This weekend, the guy that sits next to me spoke with a 12 year veteran of the employer I want to work for. The veteran asked where I was in the process, and my buddy told him that I was waiting for the 2nd round of interviews. He said that it was good that I was this far into the process. Its just the waiting thats killing me!
Fun Weekend
This weekend, my sister and I went to Fiesta Texas. It was a blast. Since the main season is over, there weren't many people there. Plus, we got there at 10:00, so there were only a hand full of people there. We rode most of the big rides. Some of them twice, since very few people were in line once the ride was over. My fave was the Superman Krypton coster. At one point, the sun was rising over the horizon and we were turned upside-down and went back and forth. It was just a very beautiful experience.
It started raining around 13:00, so we made our way to the water park. There, we rode in all the chutes and visited Pirata Morgan's house. We also swam in the wave pool. My sister had a life jacket on, so she was just relaxing. Meanwhile, the waves were kicking my butt! I got too tired, and had to swim back to more shallow water. Well, it was still fun!
Lunch with folks
My parents came down to visit my mother-in-law. She is going for dialysis today, down in San Antonio. She is in need of a kidney transplant as well. Not good times for her. My wife and her aunt have gone down to get tested for compatibility, but my mother-in-law has not. So, as soon as my mother-in-law gets some tests done, we can see if my wife or her aunt can donate a kidney to my mother-in-law.
Well, lunch was cool. We ate in this little place. The food was cheap, but good. After that, we went to Best Buy to pick up an MSN CD for my sister. I reinstalled her OS this week, since her system was without a firewall and probably had a ton of viruses and other nasties on it.
Summer Slam 2003
My thoughts:
Coach turns heel?? So now we have a heel announcer ala Bobby the Brain / Los Rudos announcer from AAA
I figured Zach wouldn't be on Summer Slam after that beat down.
They protected HHH during the whole match. Pretty cheap, but I guess now its on at the next PPV. We'll see what happens tonight.

Journal Journal: Right around the corner

Big Brother 4
Ok, I'll admit it. I love the big brother series. I've watched this show since the first one in 2000 with Britney and chicken George. I can't wait to see how they handle the "Ex-Factor" Actually, I had that idea back during Big Brother 2. Would it have helped me end up on the show? Probably not, but hey I thought of it and now they are using it. I probably will not pay for the streams this season for 2 reasons. Since the Big Brother people have always used real player and the folks at Real never program a proxy configuration in their SW, I can't check on things at work. And, I have dial-up at home, so I really don't want to pay for slow, grainy video feeds. So, it looks like just the plain TV show for me. But, I will participate in the fantasy leauge, so that should be interesting.
No more house
So, since there is a strong possibility that we will not be staying in this area, we told the house people that we couldn't purchase a house at this time. They understood, as I'm sure they deal with this stuff all the time, and put the house back on the market. And, we got the earnest money back. However, my wife made out the original check, but the house people sent a check out to me, not her, so thats cool. I tell her that money is mine all mine. Ya, that didn't go very far.
Good Things Come to Those Who Wait...
Well, its been over a month since I went and took a test for a perspective employer. Now, they said they would get the results in about a month. 2 at the longest. It has been a month and a week, but nothing so far. I know I can call and ask for the results, but I work with customers all day. Sometimes I know that a call will do nothing but waste someone else's time. Not to mention my own. So, I'll wait. Its not too bad though. If things were to move quicker, I'd still be out of shape by the time I got there. I need to get down to like 170-175 before anything else. I reached 179 right before my wedding, but I've gone up since then. I've started my own comprehensive program to get me into shape. There is no way I am ready for it today, so thankfully, I have time to get ready for it. However, after some initial run thrus, I do make the minimums, so thats a relief. But, I just dont want to scrape by with the minimums. I want to totally crush the physical aspects. I know I can do it. I just have to keep with it and not let up on my running and stretching. However, today is a rest day to let my legs recover.

Journal Journal: In the Summer

Our house, in the middle of ..
Wow. So the house people are telling us they want us to go for the 1st inspection in the middle of July and close at the end of July. That kinda sucks, since we have the lease on the apartment through September, so thats a problem in and of itself. Now, the wife states that she can't afford to put in the $300 we had agreed upon. The deal was she puts up $300 and I put up the rest. Now it seems that she is a little short and would only have like $26 at the end of the month. Not good times. Tomorrow I'll do some anaylysis on my bank account and play with the numbers a bit to see what we're gonna do. If it looks bad, we'll have to tell the house people "No Thanks."
Dude, another Dell!
In other news, I maybe getting a new laptop in exchange for my current one. Keep you fingers crossed for me. Its odd how I never use my desktop systems anymore. Its been all laptops for almost a year now. My poor desktops. I only power those guys on when I need to burn a CD or work on some programming. We'll see what happens, though.
Vida de Marido
So, the situation is that I need a better paying job. But, all my programming skills are a bit rusty. I need to make some mini projects to get back into the flow of things. Luckly, I can still visualize objects, procedures, algorithms, the relational model, etc. I just need to put them into practice again. But, coming home, I just have so much to do. It's like I told the wife today: When I come home, I am the husband, the wife, the butler and the maid. I do it all here. Its time that she started chipping in, instead of just hanging out every night. Now, one of the wierd things about me is that I cannot stand a messy place. If I have a test or a project coming up, I have to be in a clean area in order to function. So, when I come home, it's hard for me to program or study because the place is a wreck. If we end up getting the house, the plan is to have my own room. My server room. With Spice Girl and 2Pac posters coming out of retirement(sp)!! Clean and the beautiful scent of vanilla or lavander meadow. And, most importantly, NO WIFE ALLOWED. None of her clothes. None of her junk, nada. Just my systems, my books, and peace and quiet. Ahhh. You know, like that room in Matrix: Reloaded. The entrance to Zion. Yea, something like that.

Went to a bachelor party at Gillians. Basically a Dave and Busters from what I saw of it. There was this one good game I think it was called Tokyo 99, where the system detected if you were ducking behind something based on the actual position of your body. Pretty cool interface! We also had some shiners and played some Pool.
Saturday
Got up super early to take my sister to IHOP for some breakfast. The wedding I went to that afternoon was a lot of fun as well. I got to see a lot of people I havent seen in a while. Thankfully, I'll see everyone at Daphne's wedding next month. Being a BUGWGB wedding, there was plenty of music, sax solos, small groups and just fun all around. And the food was good too! Have fun in Jamaica guys.
Sunday
A fun day as well. I got to play with my little nephew quite a bit. Whoever invented those Hulk Hands, needs to be flogged. My nephew was applying the beatdown to everyone with his hulk hands. But, thankfully, because of all the padding, there was no brusing to be found. Also, I got the AC in the truck repaired.

M$/Red Hat/Oracle certifies you!!!
Its nice to see that I'm not alone. I've been trying to get through my Oracle certifiaction book, but I really can't read at work. And, when I go home, its the routine that was outlined in my previous JE. Plus, the wife asks to go to Wal-Mart, Target, etc, so by the time I get home, I need to clean the place up... So, I find solace in the fact that Duty is having trouble studying at home. The guys here at work get their alphabet soup of Certifications(Then again, they all have MCS*. Flame away!), while I have none, yet. I am not interested in a career in tech support, so I dont want to waste time & $$ in getting an MCS*.

Journal Journal: Lots of stuff today 1

Intro
Ok, so I am chillin when I should be working. Its ok, the day is winding down and soon I'll be headed back home. Its Thursday, so that means Smackdown! will be on for my viewing pleasure. I can't wait for tomorrow to see the Spurs-Nets game 2. Not only that, Baylor is playing LSU in NCAA super regional. Should be an interesting night.
Choices
In other news, I was thinking of getting one of those nifty blog things, but who needs one? I got my /. journal! I even put a link to it in my sig, so more people can take a look at it. I don't think I'm writing things that can be commented on, but thats probably because I haven't flexed the writing portion of my brain in quite some time. But, I know I'll find inspiration in my daily work and life. I know this, the ./ journal is more convenient than a paper one. Then again, I'm sure the paper one has more sentimental value to future generations, etc. Plus, this is a bit more public. So much so, that google has a link to me, so there is really no privacy, but what do I have to hide?
Work/Life balance
At work, that is one of the headers under one of our intranet pages. Right now, I'm not sure if I'm getting that balance. The typical day is like this:
06:00 Alarm goes of
06:20 Groggy me gets out of bed
06:40 Hit the road
07:00 Get to the gym and work out
07:50 Hit the showers
08:15 Clock in and get to work
13:10 Grab some lunch
18:30 Head home
19:00 Water the plants. Make some chow!
19:30 Eat some chow!
21:00 Clean up the place. Dishes etc.
23:30 Goto bed.
Lather rinse repeat. Is this the whole show? Is it like this for everyone. Granted, this is just a week day. Weekends are a little different.

Journal Journal: Just waiting 1

Well, just the other day, I went in for an Examination for another job. They said it would take a month to grade the test!! Once they get the results back, I will need to go in to take another test. This time, it will be an oral test, more like an interview. Lets just hope the call me back.
Well, my boss' boss called me and asked me about applying for other jobs. She asked if I was happy with my current job and how much longer I'd be at Dell. I told her that what I do is OK, but its not what I went to school for. I know that many people go into other fields once they graduate, but I dont want to spin my wheels doing tech support much longer. If this other job doesnt work out for X or Y reason, hopefully this OCP that I'm working on will.
Lets just see how the ball bounces.

Journal Journal: 105 Posts and counting

Wow, looks like I'm over 100 comments. Pretty cool. I only comment on the stuff I know about or feel strongly about. So, you'll find most of my posts under games.slashdot.org. I just read everything else to make sure the signal-to-noise ratio stays, umm, normal.
So, congrats to me!

Journal Journal: I have a freak?

Wow, it seems that I have a freak? Mr./Mrs./Ms. EjectButton considers me a foe? whats up with that. I thought I was cool with everyone around here.

Well, I guess you can't be friends with everyone. I wonder why this chap doesn't like me much. Well, I'll leave this journal open for comments to see if Mr./Mrs./Ms. Eject Button had a good reason for marking me as an enemy. But I won't worry too much about it, though.

Journal Journal: Its been a while

Wow, its been a while since I've written in the olde /. journal. Well, its time to get going.

Now, we just got the annual profit sharing in the last check and it was gone before I could even think about what to do with it. I had to replace my trucks tire's and get a replacement muffler. Luckily, the muffler has a lifetime warranty from Midas, but they still charge waaay too much for labour. It's all good, though. At least my truck doesn't sound like a dually.

This week the wife and I are going to see the Baylor Baseball team in action versus UT. Sadly, this is the same night as the Lady Bears WNIT championship game!! Dang. I've already got the tickets from my pledge brother, John dawg, so baseball it is.
