You sir are simply a sadist.

Even without experiencing the horrible torture you propose, you are already as cruel and depraved as if you had.

Fuck these guys.

The media companies do NOT compensate artists with any of the money collected, so their principal reason for getting this money is invalid.

As for their lost profits, study after study proves that file-copying actually increases their sales.

Screw them, we need to get rid of these leeches.

Right...

Linux runs on more computers than Windows worldwide.

You know, all those servers, phones, appliances and clouds that make up the Internet? Those.

It may not be on most desktops but its on everything else and it far outnumbers Windows.

It's not more secure because it's more obscure, it's more secure because it's better.

I knew it.. Windows terrible design is based off weed!

No, if it were weed, it would be incomplete.

The pattern resembles caffeine more than weed.

There's a famous study that was done about the effects of drugs on the ability of spiders to spin webs.

Web-spinning resembles coding to a degree, both are engineering tasks, both have to be completed in a timely manner or the author starves.

What they found was caffeine made the spiders very productive, but rather sloppy. That sounds like Windows to a T.

Weed on the other hand made the spiders do very detailed, ornate work, but they seemed to have wandering minds, get bored and leave their webs unfinished. I don't know what OS that would correspond to.

LSD had the effect of the spiders becoming very parsimonious with their effort. Webs constructed by LSD-spiders are typically minimal but very elegant. This makes me believe that Unix was probably dreamed up by some acid-heads.

Scientists Move Closer To a Universal Flu Vaccine 205

Hugh Pickens writes writes "Vaccines for most diseases typically work for years or decades but with the flu, next fall it will be time to get another dose. Now Carl Zimmer writes that a flurry of recent studies on the virus has brought some hope for a change as flu experts foresee a time when seasonal flu shots are a thing of the past, replaced by long-lasting vaccines. 'That's the goal: two shots when you're young, and then boosters later in life' says Dr. Gary Nabel, predicting that scientists would reach that goal before long: 'in our lifetime, for sure, unless you're 90 years old.' Today's flu vaccines protect people from the virus by letting them make antibodies in advance but a traditional flu vaccine can protect against only flu viruses with a matching hemagglutinin protein. If a virus evolves a different shape, the antibodies cannot latch on, and it escapes destruction. Scientists have long wondered whether they could escape this evolutionary cycle with a universal flu vaccine that would to attack a part of the virus that changes little from year to year so now researchers are focusing on target antigens which are highly conserved between different influenza A virus subtypes. 'Universal vaccination with universal vaccines would put an end to the threat of global disaster that pandemic influenza can cause,' says Dr. Sara Gilbert."
