Living in a society that is just before the total breaking point is not something I would like to be in. I like that I am able to leave my door unlocked when I walk the dogs. And that we have universal medical and drug coverage. And that if someone's having a domestic dispute, nobody in the neighborhood has to worry about dodging bullets when things get really nasty between them.

They will explain to you that an increase in population necessitates an increase in employment as the additional people require goods and services

The problem with that theory is that productivity gains have meant that we don't need twice as many people to produce twice as many goods.

The poorer are getting richer. The rich are getting richer as well. This isn't a zero sum game

Not true. Adjusted for inflation, the poor are less well-off than they were 30 years ago.

Did he file assault charges? Not discriminating means nobody gets a free pass for common assault.

SJWs see society as "us-vs-them." That will always end up badly. This lawsuit (Ellen Pao) was the same sort of shakedown her husband used to do, complaining about being discriminated against because he was black.

Well, if reddit fires her as CEO, she can always try DICE. :-(

It wasn't too hard to know they were the same business - plenty of stock at future shop had best buy shipping labels on them.

Every once in a while, future shop would drop the price on something, so you could go to best buy and get it at that price minus a few percent by bringing the ad.

Or maybe the behavior in question stops because it's wrong and people are being held accountable? The Ellen Pao lawsuit isn't going to have a permanent detrimental effect because she was found to be in the wrong, and was trying to squeeze money from a bogus lawsuit, same as her husband had done several times before he left his long-time boyfriend to marry her. $16 million would solve some of his legal problems related to securities fraud.

Or maybe she figured it was a good way to get an offer of a settlement to just go away. Who knows?

Given that 95% of all civil lawsuits filed never proceed to trial, one outlier case isn't going to change anything.
