Comment It was a good service (Score 4, Interesting) 44

I used to be on the one-DVD at a time plan. I was single and pretty good about watching them the night they came and putting them back in the mail the next day.

What I liked about it wasn't that I didn't have to go out to rent them, though that was nice. I liked that I could manage my queue when I wanted, with reviews and suggestions and the like, and I didn't have to remember or search them out at the store. If the classic film I was looking for wasn't available, I didn't have to figure out plan B.

Maybe paramotors?

There is exactly one jetpack I'm aware of that is in any way viable, and they are super expensive, require extensive training, and still largely limited to the company that is developing and demonstrating them.

I'm sure others have been working on their own versions, but there's no way to get around the enormous cost and complexity of micro turbines.

And, they're loud. There would be no mistaking the sound.

I dunno, with the 2025 end of support for Win10, people may be looking for alternatives

Could be. Then again, I'm pretty sure there were similar predictions about Win 10 because of the telemetry. I liked Windows 10 more or less from the outset. I wish they had stuck with then iterative approach like Apple, but... here we are with 11.

You do realize that Kevin lied to *everyone*, all the time? It's a lot easier to write a fantasy novel of your genius if you know your criminal notoriety will get a few fan-boys to read it?

Agree. It's a great read, but it should be understood as having an extremely unreliable narrator.

But, taken for what it is, it's a great explanation of social engineering.

You can get Ryzen laptops from Lenovo that have 20+ hour battery life, and they are at least somewhat upgradable. Better performance than M2 as well.

Can you? I'm less tethered to the Windows ecosystem than I used to be. I have a gaming laptop I can use for that and all of the technical things I want to do--including messing around in .NET or PowerShell--I can do on my Mac. I'm not paranoid about telemetry or anything, but I do find MacOS is less intrusive than Windows though I prefer Windows' keyboard support for UI operations.
