Comment Who needs Gnome? (Score 1) 613
Gnome used to great. Now Gnome is, by far, the crappiest DE out there.
Why do people think Debian needs Gnome? Use XFCE, it blows Gnome out of the water.

I a am sure there are some obese vegetarians, but it seems to me that most long-time vegetarians tend to be average, to thin.
Of course the Koran does not mention bandwidth. But if blasphemy is a capital offense, then certainly anything that enables blasphemy is not halal.
I think the key word is "history" as in centuries ago. Back then, there was stuff like forced conversion in Christianity.
The difference is: that stuff is common in Islam today.
In general, there are 4 stages to Islamic conquest.
1) When they are a tiny minority they only want to live, and worship, in peace.
2) Once they are a bigger minority, they start demanding special laws to respect their religion and culture. This is happening in many European nations right now. These special laws may directly oppose fundamental rights in western countries.
3) Once they are a sizable minority: they drop the mask, and the gloves come off. Time to violently overthrow the existing religion and culture. This has been going on throughout Islamic history. This is going on in Thailand right now.
4) Once Muslims are in charge, it is no different than any other mid-east nation.
Even getting to stage 2 is too much for many Americans. Lots of Americans do not want to give up stuff like freedom of speech, or freedom of press, freedom of religion.
They were brought over from Europe.
So the passenger pigeons were replaced by European pigeons.
That's my understanding.
Ridiculously inexpensive to run and maintain. Does everything I need. Don't have to worry about scratches and dings.
New interfaces suck.
I guess you don't know anything about servers? It's a whole different world, you wouldn't understand.
Dumb choice. Gnome3 sucks. Gnome3 is worse, in every way, than Gnome2.
Smart choice would be to gnome. Who needs it? Not as if there are not enough alternative DEs.
I doubt so-called "Paleolithic diets" are anything like people ate during that.
For example, people ate fruit then, but it was seasonal, and very different from the fruit we eat today. Same with veggies. The stuff we eat is nothing like the stuff that grew in the wild.
Also, people during that age were not especially healthy. They probably died in their 40s.
The Arctic Inuit may not have high blood pressure, but what about other diseases? Is there average life span any longer than ours?
Then there is the question of physical activity. During the stone age, getting too fat and/or being too inactive, were probably the least of your worries.
Are we really willing to give up coffee, or salt on our foods?
I have two desktops: one is running centos 6.5, the other was running centos 6.5, and is now running centos 7.0.
I am not seeing any improvement in startup, or anything else, with Systemd.
OT: Centos 7.0 interface (gnome3) is *far* worse than the centos 6.5 inface (gnome2).
Just my experience.
