Comment Re:Oculus is the real deal, the others are hype (Score 1) 202

Sony already announced their finalized specs, 1080p, 90 fov, 60hz. The specs don't meet the requirements. And no current PS4 games would work with it because they all run at sub 1080p and sub 60 fps. They aren't going to make any games for it with low enough quality graphics to get good enough framerates and resolution either.

The Oculus Rift is the real deal. They've done their research and figured out what needs to be done to make a good VR experience. 105 degree or higher field of view, low persistence, high frame rate, high enough resolution to get rid of the screen door effect, low input lag, etc. Without the headset meeting all of these criteria VR sucks. The reason it isn't out yet is because the technology isn't there yet, and they are working on getting it there.

Sony's VR solution doesn't even come close in any of the specs needed to be a good experience. It is just going to be another failed VR device like all the VR in the past. Same for many of the other "me too" VR devices coming out. People are going to get all hyped up about them, then reviews will come out and people will actually use them and realize how much they suck and the devices will bomb.

I hope that all these crappy devices coming out don't ruin it for Oculus.

A manned pilot will pass out if he pulls too many Gs. This isn't an issue with an unmanned fighter. You're also assuming the unmanned are relying on outside signals, but they could be programmed to operate on their own.

I would give the unmanned fighter the advantage over a human pilot that can't accelerate as fast, turn as fast, has slower reflexes, not as precise aim, etc.

Comment going to be terrible (Score 4, Insightful) 112

Most PS4 games are rendered in sub 1080p resolution and scaled, some games run at 60 fps but often they run at 30 fps, and the fov in most games is 70 degrees or even less.

The Oculus Rift guys are pushing for 120+ fps, 1080p+ resolution, and 105 degree fov.

The Oculus guys did their research and found that all of this is required for a good experience. The PS4 hardware can't come close to meeting any of those requirements and their headset is going to be a terrible experience and just make people think all VR headsets are terrible.

Some big management guys at Sony are pushing for a VR Headset because it is going to be the next big thing, but they don't understand any of the technical details and it is just going to fail.

That number includes people that stay in homeless shelters, which any homeless person can do unless they get kicked out for violence or drugs. Even homeless people that are not staying in homeless shelters are obviously finding some sort of shelter. Otherwise they would be dying like crazy. Even so, the point is any homeless person can find a homeless shelter or some other place to stay for free.

My original point in my response to the OP was that homeless people have all the basic needs they need to live even if they don't work or benefit society in any way. You could call them greedy for wanting more for doing nothing to benefit society. How much do they deserve for doing nothing?
Those greedy capitalists provide some sort of benefit to someone to get more money. If those damn greedy capitalists didn't improve society so far with all their damn inventions and improvements to make life easier nearly everyone would be impoverished by today's definition. Several hundred years in the future the standard of the current a middle class American will be considered poverty level again because those damn greedy capitalists will figure out ways to improve life for money.
