When you buy ads, not every ad buy is going to work out. 22% isn't terrible if that is *all* it is. When I was doing Facebook ads it was 75% people clicking the 'contact us' button by mistake rather than interest. And we still paid because the quality of the other 25% was so good. Other forms of advertising are the same. We did Homeadvisor for a while and more than half of the leads were complete garbage. But with Homeadvisor you have to pay for each one and it was $20-40 per lead for our business. We stopped doing that but it was maybe 30% as effective as other forms of advertising, for some businesses it is worth casting the net. Most forms of advertising have an inherent amount of waste, whether it be bots, mismatch relevancy, sleazy ad platform payment structures, or otherwise. You get used to it because it's part of the business, some platforms more than others.

You can repair a lot of cars with the amount of money that a bad pedestrian accident can cost. $500 extra for 10,000 cars could be roughly equivalent to the lifetime costs of a single permanent disability. There are two sides to the calculation.

Hybrids *should* remain available for decades to come. Nobody has been brave enough to sell one but an electric vehicle with a tiny engine that could allow the vehicle to limp home at 45mph or so would probably have a market. Nobody wants to be stranded and a lifeline has value.

This is pretty much the same as every country that doesn't have a famine problem. There are plenty of fat people in less developed countries. Sugar in particular is very cheap in central and south America.

Emails are a completely different format of communication though, and predictive text should reflect that. A simple example- a user types "I'm". In a text message, "I'm here" would be a good prediction. In an email, that would probably be a bad prediction.

You can not do repairs or inspections of any substance in a few hours at a natural gas plant. The turbines and boilers need a couple of days before it cools down enough to insert a bore scope without melting. You would also not be messing with pumps, filters, or anything else in the timespan of a few hours, as you wouldn't know when a dispatch order could come.

Comcast is losing market share everywhere there is an upstart alternative. My neighborhood got fiber installed just last year and the uptake is more than 50%.

Even if it only took a couple months for someone to be proficient with training and tuning models, that's too slow for a lot of the companies making these hires. It's a gold rush to be on top of this "next big thing", claims need to be staked out immediately. It doesn't matter that there might not be that much gold in the ground. A late mover isn't going to get any of it, so companies have to scramble to be there.

Mapping the ocean floor with side-scan sonar is the only realistic way it will be found. I suppose it may be possible to build robotic ships to do this, but the cost is still very high and the surviving pieces of airplane may be difficult to distinguish from the ocean floor. This would generate candidate sites that would need to be checked one by one by ROVs. There are many excellent autonomous underwater robots used in offshore oil and gas, but nothing that would work thousands of miles from shore without a sizeable support vessel.

The Texas grid is larger than most countries, especially in terms of GW capacity. It's 40% larger than the UK grid (which has double the population). It is plenty big enough to stand on its own.

At this point, the free dot-org version of wordpress has become a nuisance to a huge cash in by the cabal running Automattic.

This is clear with every update of wordpress and all of their differently branded but still owned properties such as woocommerce.

The "wordpress" naming is kept intentionally confusing so that the normies don't see the flip coming.

I agree the fold can't be seen in most circumstances. The feel of it is what personally bothers me. Modern phones require lots of swiping and scrolling and the wavyness at the fold isn't easy to get used to.

It is a wonderful era to live in, isn't it? My children will never know the struggle of not having enough Internet. It was a long time coming but my area just installed fiber. As "much as you want" is an enormous contrast to the limitations of telephone modems.

And the price will continue to rise, and people will continue to pay. If it were the only viable option I know what I would choose if moving wasn't on the table.
