In the USA, many taxes are set at the state and local levels, with income taxes and sales taxes (somewhat like VAT but not collected at all stages of the process) being the most common. This article is about a percentage tax on income. Some states do not tax income; some have a single tax rate for income; others have variable tax rates based on income. California's highest income tax bracket is 13.3%, for income over $1 million. So if someone claims to not be in California, and is a high earner, the state has reason to check up on that. As an interesting aside, a recent baseball player signed a $700 million contract to play for a California team for 10 years, and $680 million of that is deferred and will not be paid until after his 10 years completes. If he moves to a no-income-tax state at that point, his deferred income would not be subject to those taxes.

Local Utility Company, that owns and maintains fiber.

All fiber brought back to a COLO facility where Vendors offer their services to the local utility customers, directly AT the COLO facility. Choice to the Consumer. The COLO and Fiber are maintained with fees extracted as part of the rental agreement between the vendors and the local Utility CO.

A consumer purchases service from the vendor(s) of their choice directly, based on their desires and needs. No Government needs to be involved. Increase Options creates competition.

Its a wonder smart people haven't figured out that Government Franchise Agreements has stagnated the status quo into doing nothing.

CD Audio is digital. It literally offers no difference to all other Digital Formats, excepting for bitrate differences. Most listening is via some sort of digital conversion.

Vinyl is analog. There is a real benefit to analog, as it does not have some of the clipping effects digital is known for. Can most people tell the difference? Probably not.

The problem is that ZLUDA merely makes AMD hardware appear to CUDA as Nvidia hardware. CUDA is only licensed to run with Nvidia hardware, and any company that tries to ship ZLUDA or a similar product will get sued into the ground. That's why nobody will touch it commercially. I guess some low level manager at AMD funded it because he didn't understand and AMD Legal shut it down as soon as they found out.

Check out what happened to Psystar Corporation when they tried an end-around run on their Mac clones in 2008/2009 - they created Rebel EFI to make their products look to Mac OS X like Apple hardware, and quickly ended up bankrupt.

Over the last four years we have interviewed half a dozen Intel software people for a job in my group. Not one has lasted to the last interview of the day (that's me as hiring manager.) Every one of the candidates has been rejected early because lack of knowledge/understanding of their professed area of expertise, generally UEFI or low level drivers/Linux internals. Post interview comment forms completed by interviewers have generally been withering.

It's possible that only the less competent software engineers are trying to leave Intel. Or maybe that's why Intel isn't exactly considered a software powerhouse. Whatever the reason, having Intel on your resume isn't considered a plus if you're looking for a job in my group.
