Comment oh, you finally got it? (Score 1) 111

It's an open source killer. The main reason people contribute to open source is to get recognition for their name. Either that or they contribute anonymously. But most don't contribute anonymously. If AI absorbs this content and makes it part of its knowledge base, this work will be used without citing contribution because contribution information will be culled. It's not relevant to the functionality of the result after all.

I don't even see why #1 would be that bad. Ukrainians can't be sure that the body matches the social media pictures. It's not like Russia gives them the names of the Russians sent to fight them. or publishes the names of the missing corpses. Next-of-kin identification is tough, but it's better than letting their relatives think they are missing.

What you are complaining about is the equivalent of working for a "defense" contractor and getting all upset when you finally discover your work is literally killing people.

There is nothing immoral or unethical about working for an American defense contractor. It serves a greater good. Helping Russo Fascists servers no purpose other than advancing ambitions of a madman and his sycophants. There is no moral ambiguity in helping Russian Federation. Russia's goals and its methods are beyond appalling, beyond atrocious. Russia's actions are atrocities committed for the sake of a greater atrocity. It's demonic.

You can pace all you want. You are not gonna lead. Russian forces *are* incompetent. Ukraine is following standard defensive deployment tactics. And, so far, it is very successful. Russia hasn't made "inroads." It's been allowed to walk into many mouse traps. That's what defensives do when they want to win against a larger force. Ukraine is doing to the Russia Federation what the Russia Empire did to Napoleon.

Russia has 0 claim to Eastern Ukraine. Ukraine is a country. Russian Federation is a country, which has nothing to do with the USSR or the Tsarist Empire. Attempting to change these fact with weapons, or excusing anyone attempting to change these fact with weapons, make you *guilty* (rather than just responsible) for the crimes against humanity being committed by the Russian Fascist aggression ordered by the criminal Putin regime. Can I be any more clear?

Uhm. no. Ethics maybe a sliding scale, but that only means that the extremes of that scale are easy to identify. A dictator invading a free country and *targeting* (not just killing as collateral damage but targeting civilians), kidnapping thousands of civilians and moving them to his own country to unknown locations... this all hearkens to WWII or Roman Empire. Someone who is doing this, in front of everyone's eyes, in the modern world, has no moral ambiguity. This is way off the scale evil.

Imagine being a media company not censored by Russia! Imagine working for a company that Russia finds palatable. I don't mean just any Russia. I mean even the current goonish reincarnation of Russia. Congratulations to Facebook, I guess. Can't think of a clearer indication of being on the right side of history than the worst people on the planet hating you. Imagine being a country that overnight became worse than the worst of human abuses on the planet. Imagine getting there in just a few weeks. And then imagine being told that the government of such a country loves doing business with you. Shouldn't every media company ask themselves how did Facebook get this one so right?
