Ha, I was a life time smoker until recently, but never went into social media of any kind. Ever. I eat animal fats and proteins plus veggies, sleep well, exercise daily and yes, believe it or not, I "dance". Alone. In various parks in Amsterdam. Never having formal lessons. I've had tourists taking pictures of me - what is this ass doing, flailing and jumping around like a mad person to music that only he hears! Don't care. Love the movement!

That is why I survived what professionals, and the statistics, call "hopeless cases". A person with no family, kids or religion, from poor unprivileged background, who, at a certain moment of his life gets divorced, his father dies way too young, gets depressed, addicted to smoking, stopped seeing his friends and then the corporation he works for screws him. All of this within several months. Without mentioning near bankruptcy due to medical bills (yes, in Europe; do not believe a word about the great socialized European medicare).

On the other hand, the kids growing on Social media, educated by crazies, ideologues and perverts, fed "entertainment" by our betters from Hollywood and elsewhere, fed "news" and " science" by the elite are becoming "suicidal" because someone said a joke on Twitter.

In the above mentioned Netherlands I have never seen a middle class couple (I am in STEM) that continues to work full time once they have kids. Usually both switch to 4-day week (shifted), so the kids are without them for 3 days per week.

All in all, it is a poor system that deprives children from the irreplaceable personal contact with parents, particularity in the first 10-12 years.
This blind robbery is being justified by "female empowerment". As if the whole system gives you a simple binary choice an nothing in between!

So, don't be so smug in asking which century people live in, because all you have to show for it is destroyed generations of people who grew without parents even when they were actually there. Sacrificing children for money and ideology, that is all you have to show, friend.

Based on fraudulent science from the start, ushered by corporations, repeatedly proven that it is exceedingly bad (yet you never hear about it in any mainstream media). Nothing else correlates with catastrophic health outcomes than seed oil consumption. Sugar does not. Meat and saturated fat definitely not.
Countries have seen 400 fold increase of metabolic disorders (in this example it is Japan) in a period where consumption of sugar and fat was dropping. Nothing shows up when you run the PCA analysis....except the seed oils.
Of course, processed grains and added sugar are a serious problem too.

The 3 horses of the food Apocalypse are seed oils, processed grains and added sugar. Which is exactly what this "meat" is.

Since I removed the above from my diet few years ago here are some of the highlights:

Do no need daily medicine for stomach (several hundred euros per month plus the obvious general decrease of performance on all levels - gone)
Psoriasis gone; massive saving on health costs in the long run
Perfect weight; energy levels higher than 20 years ago
90% reduction of sick leave. Met the delta variant of Covid head on in a family excursion during vacation 2021. Massive exposure - traveling in a car with contagious person with the airco circulating for 5 hours plus eating together and what's not. Everyone else got not only sick but very sick with long term issues after that. I did not even bring it to my mother that evening...
Increased metabolic rate means I decreased with 2 degrees the living temperature in the house - massive saving on energy.

You see if you want to decrease your burden on the health system and your impact to the environment you should eat....animal protein and fat.

Instead you are lied to so that you can eat as unhealthy as possible and therefore generate 10x profits for the "health" care system while you are " cured". I am not sure this has any relevance, but approx. 8 months ago Mojang broke Minecraft on all android devices after an update. The bug is confirmed, universal and still open. It made the Bedrock edition unplayable. Me and my Minceraft buddy had paid 1000 bucks each for the latest and greatest Samsung tablets so that we can play the game in the little time we have as adults with minimum fuss and maintenance (or so we thought!).

Month after month passed with us not playing and the tablets gathering dust...until my buddy came several weeks ago with a 5-year old laptop of his. He had installed Linux Mint on it, then runs an Android shell and inside runs the Bedrock edition. The bug is not present! The game runs as it is supposed to. Now, the pity is that the hardware of the laptop is less powerful than the tablet so I have to use lower rendering distance and so on...still the game is playable. Mojang, M$ and Google all think I am using another tablet...but the network knows that one extra Linux PC is up and running in the world.

I find it hilarious that my super duper work laptop running Win 10 is about an order of magnitude slower than that 5 year old laptop that does not even have dedicate GPU. I had forgotten what it means to have fast, responsive machine and software that does not ask the taste of my mother's milk every time I log in or start using the machine for...anything! The contrast between the corporate and Linux experience is by now, VAST! Linux is vastly superior, I mean.

I had frozen my old desktop at Win 7 years ago and was not purchasing new hardware or moving to more recent OS because I knew from work what awaits me should I upgrade beyond 7....but I was also misled by the nerd community that Linux is unreliable, too difficult to support, too complicated to run...

So, my desktop PC will be upgraded soon....to the best Linux machine I can assemble.

This particular user will never install corporate OS at home....ever.

I wonder if that gigantic Minecraft fiasco contributed at least a bit to the increase of Linux's popularity?

In one of the stories the judge needs to investigate the "Examination building" in Canton - a building with a number of small cells where the candidate is locked in the morning with food, paper, ink and the exam questions. In the evening the results are collected.
The interesting thing was that the citizens were afraid to visit the building, because so many people kill themselves every year in desperation when they think they failed. So their ghosts are still roaming at night...

Passing the exam means secured career in the government administration. Failing the exam meant enormous public humiliation plus another year of study during which you bankrupt and burn yourself trying to get it right next time. So many, who failed the first time, preferred death.

That seems to me to be an effect of the system rather than some aspect of Chinese character. When the incentive structure is so harsh to those who failed. Take the exam or die. The crime story was from 7th century. Seems like a very old way of doing things; but then China loves the past and tradition.

OK, I stopped reading here. Just like "There is no safe amount of animal protein". Or "No safe amount of ionizing radiation". Total nonsense....

The chemical compound pollution that comes from the exhaust of a modern day car is 98% less than what it came out in the 90-ies. Particulate's main source in a vehicle is the tires. The amount is exponential with weight. Also, in any modern urban environment transport is just about the smallest contributor to particle pollution.

All the above statements are the conclusions of a multi-year EU wide scientific project in which I played a small role.

YET:
1. The powers that be want to see 90% reduction in car ownership (Whaaaaat?)
2. Electric vehicles, which are WAY heavier are perfectly OK - no problem with particle generation there!
3. Synthetic fuels that are carbon neutral are an evil scam by greedy German auto corporations!!!!! - never mind that if the fuel is carbon neutral then you have zero extra investment in infrastructure, lighter cars (much less particles) and fully developed and matured scraping systems at the exhaust (see the 98% reduction).

Funny fact: One of the Chinese representatives in the project said that if China moves from Euro1 to Euro2 legislation, as they intend to do, for the exhaust gasses (We are introducing Euro7 here - the reduction of emissions between the issues is not linear but progressive) that would offset anything that the West can ever do for pollution. So, instead of wasting billions upon billions with constantly worsening ROI (diminishing returns) perhaps we can invest where we get the biggest bang for the buck....

Submission + - Ask Slashdot: Law of Conservation of Energy is incomplete? 6

mcnster writes: The law of Conservation of energy states that the total energy of an isolated system remains constant; it is said to be conserved over time.

A corollary of this theorem is that a perpetual motion machine of the first kind cannot exist.

Yet this machine exists (in reality). It appears that the marbles will stay in motion until the end of the Earth (if protected from earthquakes, typhoons, and inquisitive housecats, etc.)

Doesn't energy leak out of the system due to friction and air resistance? What if there was a waterwheel-like axle of vanes under the ball-drop driving the "second hand" of a clock on the device's front? Could I grind coffee beans (albeit, heavily roasted) one at a time?

IANAP. Am I just stupid, or can someone please explain how this infernal machine works? (Bonus points for formally.) Thank you.

This type of online harassment is known as "spamouflage" or "dragonbridge" and has spread across every major social media platform.
