  • You've got people in the amorphous "religious right" making statements like this to national media outlets:

    A short step beneath the surface reveals that one of the differences being celebrated is homosexuality

    You've got Jerry Falwell whining about asexual purse-carrying, purple... things.... saying they're gay.

    The "religious right" is the one that makes these statements, so the "religious right" is what gets mocked for them. If your major spokespersons are going to go around making public statements and

    • I wish the religious right had smarter people, and the opposition had honest people. Further down the (CNN) article we see the crux of the issue:

      "Their (website's) inclusion of the reference to 'sexual identity" within their 'tolerance pledge' is not only unnecessary, but it crosses a moral line."

      So it appears, given the foundation's pledge to include sexual identity within its cause for tolerance, that the religious right is concerned that this will, either above-board or more surreptitiously, make it into

    • You've gotten pissed in the past when people lump you in with Michael Moore [slashdot.org].

      So why do you lump the "religious right" in with Jerry Falwell?
  • Just because Falwell says it (or more accurately, his editors put it in his newsletters, and they have his name on it), it doesn't mean that everyone that could be classified as "religious right" (like ME) believes it.

    It's also worth noting that Falwell doesn't represent me, and nobody asked me who I wanted as a spokesperson.
