Does Slashdot suck? No, really I mean it. Are the stories as good as they used to be? Are the real geeks and hackers still here? Does it just seem to be a big time waster?

  • it has gotten worse. I hang out here less that's for sure, and I turned off messages for friend's journal entries (caught yours through the rss feed.) The recent article on programming languages [slashdot.org] was a refreshing discussion, but for the most part /. has fallen from grace. I also don't dig D2 so maybe that is part of it. Overly white-spaced u.i. that lacks the polish and cleanliness of before. Discussions take longer now for me to read so I therefore decided to cut back.
  • Slashdot sucks, there are still just as many good stories but there's a lot more crap, real geeks and hackers mostly lurk and only come out occasionally to drop the bomb on someone, et cetera. At the same time, is there anything better out there?

      That's what is keeping me here. Nowhere else has quite the combination of news I'm interested in, decent flamewars, etc.
