I still have a lot to learn about the back end part of things. So what exactly do the numbers mean?

Uptime prints the current time, the length of time the system has been up, the number of users on the system, and the average number of jobs in the run queue over the last 1, 5 and 15 minutes. To have 1,000 jobs queued up is a bit on the high side. My home machine here has less than 1.

Ah, now it makes sense. The date and users I figured out, more or less, but the other numbers seemed to be the important ones;-)
