On a related note, I can offer you exactly the same advice on the punkin' ale. They even BROUGHT IT BACK to the Ale house this December, it was so popular this year.

As far as the off-flavor of the pumpkin ale, I'm pretty sure it was the result of fermenting table sugar, which produces a harsh, hot flavor. There are one or two quite good pumpkin ales out there that I like. I was shocked that DFH wasn't one of them. I can't remember the name of the one I like most. It tastes very much like a pumpkin pie.

Anyone tried Left Hand Milk Stout? It has a nice stout taste but then the aftertaste is milk, with very little bitterness.

A friend of mine who's also a serious beer fan really likes Left Hand's beers, including that milk stout, if I recall correctly. I've tried it and liked it okay, but it didn't leave a strong impression on me.
